Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park will close on Sept. 6 as part of a construction project to rehabilitate the park, and it is expected to reopen by Jan. 1, according to officials from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Alternative options
The state Department of Environmental Conservation operates two facilities — the Woodville site (on Route 21, 3 miles north of the village of Naples) and the West River site (off Route 245, 7 miles south of Middlesex on Sunnyside Road) — both of which can be used. Another option is the boat ramp at Onanda, which the town of Canandaigua will open on Nov. 15. Private marinas may also have ramps available.

Jim Van Slyke can scarcely remember a time in his life when he wasn’t singing, nor a time when he wasn’t planning to make it his life’s work. Nor was there a time when the music of Neil Sedaka wasn’t a big part of his life’s soundtrack.
