Frank Bowe posted thisIf you're part of the team running a professional sports club, the season is over and thoughts are already turning to next year. Here's my question. How many CEOs are already in your fanbase? How many founders? How many business owners? How many people with real commercial influence? How many supporters would genuinely like to help move the club forward? Don't know? Don't worry. Most clubs I speak to each week can't answer that either. The traditional approach is to spend huge amounts of time and money trying to get meetings with people who have no connection to the club whatsoever. I think it's time to flip the switch. Not because the cold approach doesn't work. But because doesn't it make sense that some of the most valuable people a club could ever do business with are already sitting inside its own fanbase?

Frank Bowe posted thisI think professional sport is chasing the wrong people. The industry talks endlessly about finding new fans, new audiences and new commercial partners. Yet many clubs still can't identify the commercially valuable people already connected to them. The CEO in hospitality. The founder in the stands. The business owner bringing clients to games every month. Known as supporters. Invisible as opportunities. Before sport spends another decade chasing new audiences, it might be worth understanding the one it already has.

Frank Bowe reposted thisFrank Bowe reposted this"If something is unimaginable, it becomes un-actionable." Thijs Biersteker delivered that line in his keynote on immersive installations midway through SXSW London. It nicely framed everything else I saw that week. Attending sessions that are adjacent or even sometimes distant from my experience really helps my creativity in what I can imagine or deliver. NotCo's diagnosis of FMCG product cycles was stark. Seven handoffs, 80% mortality, two years per launch. That turned an abstract "AI will change everything" into a concrete brief any operator could act on. Waymo did the same with raw scale. The fleet now covers millions of fully autonomous miles a week on real roads. That's several human driving lifetimes of experience every week, with orders of magnitude more in simulation. The DeepMind / Runway / Niantic panel on world models and generative environments dovetailed well with the Waymo session. Manon Dave from BBC R&D presented SIGNALS, an intelligence layer for live TV. Two-way participation built natively into the broadcast and streaming stack. Adoption is still a barrier, but it's a genuinely compelling vision of where broadcasting could go next. Good week.

Frank Bowe posted thisMost sports clubs don't have a lead generation problem. They have a visibility problem. The CEO who's been attending games for ten years. The founder in the hospitality suite every other week. The agency owner with three season tickets and a marketing budget. All connected to the club. None visible to the commercial team. Professional sport has spent years looking outside for commercial growth. Cold outreach. Prospect lists. Sponsorship agencies. Lead generation. Meanwhile, some of the most commercially valuable people a club already knows are sitting inside its own ecosystem. Not because they're difficult to find. Because nobody is looking at the data in the right way. The challenge isn't finding more people. It's seeing the right ones.

Frank Bowe posted thisA commercial director at a professional football club told me a story recently that stuck with me. A senior UK executive at a well-known consumer brand had been attending matches and events for years. He was already in the club's systems. Just not in a way that connected his fan identity to his business identity. The connection was only made by chance, through a mutual introduction at a home game. That conversation eventually became a significant commercial partnership. What struck me wasn't the outcome. It was the fact the relationship already existed inside the club ecosystem all along. Not because the club wasn't paying attention. Because no system was designed to surface it. The best commercial relationships in sport aren't being built. They're being accidentally discovered. That needs to change!

Frank Bowe posted thisProfessional sports clubs collect enormous amounts of fan data. Ticketing. Hospitality. Membership. Retail. Events and more. Most still can’t tell you: -which fans are founders, CEOs or senior decision-makers -which own substantial businesses or have influential commercial networks -which already have relationships with existing sponsors or partners -which are one conversation away from becoming commercial partners themselves The data already exists. It’s just fragmented across systems no one has properly connected.

Frank Bowe liked thisFrank Bowe liked thisTen months ago, Robert Greco, SpeakUp's General Counsel, called AI governance a two-sided race: Europe's rules-first model versus America's tools-first model. His latest piece shows the picture is more complicated now. 🇪🇺 The EU just pushed back its high-risk AI Act obligations by a year under industry pressure. 🇺🇸 The US is still fighting over whether Washington or individual states get to write the rules. 🇨🇳 And China has launched WAICO, a 29-nation body competing on infrastructure access instead of regulatory strength. The original question still matters: which philosophy delivers AI that's trustworthy, competitive, and human-centric? But a second question is getting harder to ignore: when only a few organisations can afford to comply with all three regimes at once, which approach wins by default? Read Robert's full analysis 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAGmpTtw What's your take: does compliance capacity end up shaping AI policy more than the policies themselves? #AI #Compliance #EthicsBeyond rules and tools: AI governance's three-body problem - SpeakUpBeyond rules and tools: AI governance's three-body problem - SpeakUp

I’m hearing it from the CTO of Uber in posts, and through my friend Robert Scoble I think it’s a really interesting phase. Certainly, our engineers are now looking at self-hosting and really trying to get away from spending tokens on things that are in R&D phase. Edge AI Cache is the anti-token Maxx for Pause ads — it makes that practical and efficient. That’s key for us maintain our autonomous commerce — which I think is really exciting to scale to entire VOD libraries for pause ads. Need to scale shoppable TV and video, look no further. #EdgeAICache #AutonomousCommerce #AntiTokenMaxx #AI OTTRED Amazon Coupang Pay

Reporting works. So why do people still stay silent? Before filing a report, most employees ask themselves: 🔹 Will anyone actually read this? 🔹 Will anything change? 🔹 Will my identity stay protected? 🔹 Is it safer to stay quiet? A reporting channel is only infrastructure. Trust is what makes people use it. Organizations with the strongest ethical cultures see nearly 40% higher return on assets. That's what happens when speaking up feels safe. 27,000 whistleblower tips reached the SEC in FY2025, a record year. 🔷 The channel matters less than the culture around it 🔷 What's your organization doing to build that trust? Frank Bowe liked thisFrank Bowe liked thisWe showed a football club £600,000 it didn't know existed. This was a League One club with new ownership. They had a plan to develop the club but weren't sure where to focus their time and effort first. They were still recruiting junior staff and resource was tight. When we ran our digital assessment, we came back with a range of £400,000-£600,000 in untapped digital sponsorship value. They had no idea that potential was there. The problem wasn't ambition. They'd just been focused on analogue for years. Marginal gains on naming rights, front of shirt sponsorship, and the usual inventory. And their existing principal sponsors had only ever bought those analogue assets. So here's what we did: - We showed them where the digital value came from, line by line - We built digital packages specifically for their existing principal sponsors, giving them something new to sell before the season started - We created a separate digital offering for new prospects, so they weren't walking into those conversations empty-handed The new ownership knew they had to accelerate. They just needed to understand what the opportunities were and what it was worth, and what to put in front of sponsors to make it real. What would you do with £600k you didn't know existed?
