Egon Erdelyi shared thisEgon Erdelyi shared thisIn just 4 weeks since signing an exclusive deal with HOPS labour, I'm delighted to announce that the picker app is now available to download. Connecting UK farmers with farm labour. Just an incredible job by our small but mighty team and fantastic to add another brand to the limber family. Full details here:pickerpicker

Egon Erdelyi shared thisContractor friends if you are not aware of it a new piece of legislation is coming real soon, that will affect how you trade in the UK. We can help. In a couple of weeks we'll be releasing an invoicing and payroll tool to help handle inside IR35 contracts. It's all powered by our main product, limber. If you’d like to know a bit more about it we expand on it on our IR35 page. Comment below or leave your email address at this link to get the BETA version of the tool. https://limber.work/IR35/ #ir35 #contractor #hmrc #contracts #invoicing #payroll

I think to my knowledge there is two schools of thought one is of emergent properties at certain scale, and if the technology can be made more efficient it would become feasible to reach that goal, this I think has a lot of work put into it.
The second is a paradigm shift in the approach to AI from stochastic parrot to something that would resemble true reasoning. As for running out of training data, there are already several companies trying to solve that and synthetic data can take you some of the way as well during the training phase.
However, I think LLM AIs are in a bubble especially if you look at the circular funding that you can see between the big players and it's primed for big drops in their valuations (Nvidia had a 4% drop from their 5 trillion valuation [200 billion]) . LLMs have limited real use cases in businesses, (crappy customer service, document digitisation [especially with something like deepseek OCR -> https://github.com/deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-OCR], processing large documents, ai slop content) but at the end of the day it's cheaper than humans and unfortunately the greed to save a quick buck and not dealing with human problems overrides quality produced by competent humans.

Egon Erdelyi liked thisEgon Erdelyi liked thisI’m 2 years into running Tempo, and I still don’t get why most ISO 27001 certification bodies are soooo slow. Slow to provide quotes, months long lead-times for booking in audits, reports and certificates issued in weeks or sometimes months after audits. I suspect it’s just because that’s the way it’s always been done... They’ve all just fallen into line without questioning the status quo. Not at Tempo… our operations are lightning fast (nod to Jamie Johnson and Célene Joseph for their awesome work!). Here’s a quick video in which I’m far too animated about this issue… (apologies for shouting the first word!) If you’re looking for an audit provider that matches your energy, drop me a line!

It’s a shame my credit is missing from the print version, BUT it can’t take away how much I loved working on The Miroq Festival! Getting to create stories, characters and locations in N. K. Jemisin’s Stillness, a world and book series I absolutely adore, was an immense privilege. If you pick it up I really hope you enjoy this game!

Egon Erdelyi liked thisEgon Erdelyi liked thisOver the past year, I’ve had the chance to help Numan rethink how care is delivered by transforming their Electronic Health Record. I designed new clinical workflows and helped create better experiences for both clinical teams and patients. Working in healthcare means navigating complexity every day, and I'm grateful for everything I learned along the way and for the opportunity to work with some genuinely thoughtful and talented people. As I move on from Numan, I'm starting a new adventure of my own. I’ve launched Dem Studio, an independent design consultancy focused on helping organisations tackle complex product and service challenges through human-centred design. I'm looking for Product and Service Design contract opportunities, especially in healthcare, sustainability, and other mission-led organisations. If that sounds like something your team could use, I'd love to chat. You can see some of my work at https://dem.studio or send me a message here. #ServiceDesign #ProductDesign #HealthTech

Egon Erdelyi liked thisEgon Erdelyi liked thisTo anyone responding to the Government's Consultation on zero hours contracts. 1. Buckle up. It's 64 questions, most have 2 parts 2. You can't save it anywhere so you have to do it in one go (fingers crossed your internet doesn't cut out). 3. They leave the glossary of terms right to the end - you'd have to click through 64 pages to see them and then click back. 4. You don't get a summary of your responses afterwards and nor you can you edit them without clicking back. You also don't get emailed a confirmation your response has been received. 5. Weirdly, they never ask who you are. 6. You can respond by email to: zerohours.consultation@businessandtrade.gov.uk, which I'd recommend doing instead. This is a really important consultation for the hospitality industry and beyond so deserves your attention. To help you out, here are the questions so you can prepare in advance and then copy and paste into the consultation or use in your email response: https://lnkd.in/es38stVj Peter Kyle Kate Dearden MP and Qualtrics, please can the UX of the consultation be improved - in particular 2-4 above improved. https://lnkd.in/eFuXv5AjMake Work Pay: ending one-sided flexibility – reforms of zero hours and similar contractsMake Work Pay: ending one-sided flexibility – reforms of zero hours and similar contracts

Egon Erdelyi liked thisEgon Erdelyi liked thisStarting a second company in your late thirties / early forties is a very different experience from building your first one. When I started my first company, aged 28, every decision felt urgent. I constantly felt like I had to push as hard as I could, or I’d fall behind. I had a baseline level of stress in that first year or so that was hard to shake off outside of work. In truth, it never went away for that 8-year journey, but you learn to live with it and manage it. It becomes normalised. With Tempo Audits, I’ve chosen to do things differently. I still care about building a strong business and keeping high standards. That hasn’t changed. But now, I think more about the kind of company I want to create around those goals. I want this company to last, both for me and for the team. I want it to give people more room to think clearly and do good work, instead of always feeling stressed. I try not to put pressure on the team to make everything feel intense. Less KPIs. Less numbers to stress about falling short on. If anything, I think we make better decisions when things are a bit calmer. Maybe that comes with experience, or just being at a different stage in life. But it does feel like a more intentional way to build.
