Clive Phelps shared thisDataMintify.com has now exited testing and been deployed to some! AWS Datacentre! It has passed all of Shopify’s automated IT checks which is an achievement, believe me! AI reports… About 44,500 lines of code across TypeScript, React, and CSS files. That's a substantial production application! It includes the multi-database enrichment system, Shopify OAuth/GraphQL integration, billing enforcement, AI content generation, translation system, Nutrition enhancement module, Barcode correction, pricing and competitive analysis module, HFSS calculations, baseline data protection, and all the dashboard UI ,security and vulnerability protection. Now to final checks and launch! (and some polish to the website) I have not spoken to a single Human in this development and I would never pretend to be an architect or coder by any means! That is #JFD-AI ! My honest opinion is that this would have been a £500k-£1M IT Corp project in days gone by. (and I delivered many of those) Now, where is that AI Marketing man?

(I hate washing up! lol) So I started a new business to maximise and deliver fair earnings for all our delivery riders, whilst pitching the restaurant service levels against each other and also creating serious tension in the competitive dynamics of our food delivery platforms. (Deliveroo, Ubereats etc) Enter RiderBeats.com Ready to launch before the new year and again, is powered by another ‘Start with the solution’ AI driven application! Just! 15,000 lines of code, front and back ends and databases, api integrations, 400k downloaded restaurants, GPS tracking, subscriptions and payments integration, Admin backend, full security, PCI, hardening, tested and released before New Years Day.

Clive Phelps shared thisThis is AI… JFD-AI ! So! This week I had a business issue with my e-commerce store hosted on Shopify and it was a big problem from a customer and compliance perspective. The task in hand for me was to be a massive manual effort right now and ongoing, in to the future. I had no solution. I then looked for App to do the job for me but nothing existed in the App stores. My business is still small and I have no IT team and no real funding for an external development team, so I was stuck!!! The solution…. Develop the App myself. I have replaced the Project team, PMO, BA, Architect, Dev’s, DBA’s, Test and Release person/s. In summary, in less than 1 week part time (Evenings) I now have a fully functional App, compiled, tested and released to Shopify and the problem is solved in my store. Stats of the App….. 13,000 lines of code All design, UX, Architecture etc Multiple databases 7 external API’s integrated Includes Photo to Text conversion Language Translation features Fallbacks and data safety process. Over 10 releases in a week fully documented. The next steps is to configure for multi-tenant, add a charging model & branding etc which will be done before the weekend is over, to allow it to be published commercially. Cost was less than $100 so far. I recall hearing my project sponsors saying they needed things quicker, faster etc etc and it often being a challenge - but now ……. Well, it would be ‘How quick would you like it?’ I’ve always been a can-do person! ;) This isn’t Agile… I’d still be documenting the sprints! This is AI …. #JFDAI

Clive Phelps shared thisSo an overdue update on Emporio-Brasil.com This week was our 5th Birthday having been a Pandemic business. Sat on the sofa after Boris said Stay At Home, what could I do. Well! It was get some Brazilian food (Brazilian wife contacts) and spin up a website. lol. Spontaneous entrepreneurship. Since then and after 5 years, the number 5 is very relevant. We have a 5* food rating, over 5 Awards and 5* reviews - Actually every review, on every social platform for 5 years has always been 5* without exception (well apart from the corrupt competitor who has attacked us for 5 years) Anyway we focus on ourselves and are very proud. We are continually growing and have doubled in the last 12 months. (Shopify is a great platform and the migration was a challenge and a success) We continue to do EVERY role in the company, buying, selling, web development, seo, advertising, operations, finance etc etc We are dispatching 10k orders a year and increasing. To achieve this level of performance, growth and customer satisfaction from our Garden, I think, is a nice reflection at the 5 year point. Some funnies to ponder… space management is a challenge in our log cabin, we are at the point of looking at every square cubic inch to maximise opportunity and expand our range! (We actually have 2 log cabins now lol) A capital investment proposal can be a new air bag machine and does it pay back? and also, we are finding it cheaper to buy a new HP printer every 6 months, as you get 6-9 months of HP instant ink free! We make ice every day and need 2000 ice packs a month to ship with. Running a tiny business like this makes you very aware that Profit is everywhere. No big deals, but you need to make pennies on every order in every way. Efficiency is the key. We have also recognised a key asset is our audience. We have an engaged audience around 40k and post in over 400 U.K. Brazilian Facebook groups weekly. Indeed, a key challenge Is understanding that Facebook try to put you in jail for over-posting, but being clever enough to find ways round Facebooks limiting technologies. We are now selling our audience as a platform to our supply chain partners where we see value to them in our audience. Eg. Selling one side of our box as advertising space. Our boxes land in UK Brazilians who have made a purchase so this is valuable capital space to our Brand suppliers. Our best seller is Brazilian cheese bread balls - amazing product. We are selling 250,000 balls a year. A great intro for people wanting to try something Brazilian. Drive, determination, energy, effort and intelligence is required every day, to make a success but I think we are getting there. 👍

Really interesting and important. Strategy is not a long term plan which so many see it as. One comment which resonated with me many years ago was - ‘Where you find yourself (or company) today…is the result of your strategy!’ Whether that be your 3 month or 3 year strategy it has led you to where you are. That means exactly what you are saying Rupert - Some decisions were acted on and others probably were not! That gives strategic drift or a lost strategy and why decision focus and completion is so important. Strategy should be a living activity and realised as such. Research shows that Realised strategy is 10% intended and 90% Emergent… which acknowledges what a fast paced world we live in and again, have to change our strategy / decisions to ensure it remains aligned to present day conditions! Often difficult where companies are stuck within culture and ‘core rigidity’, around the ways things have always been done. 👍

Clive Phelps liked thisClive Phelps liked thisToday has been a genuinely humbling and rewarding day volunteering with the amazing team at Little Miracles Charity and a trip to Whipsnade Zoo. 10 coaches. Around 1,200 people. All brought together to give families with children who have additional needs, disabilities, or life-limiting conditions a day out that many told us would otherwise have been out of reach. This is exactly what Little Miracles Charity is all about - supporting families by providing respite, reducing isolation, and creating experiences and memories that simply wouldn’t be possible without that extra help. And trust me, a lot of special memories have been made today. I’ll be honest, I felt a mix of nerves and apprenhension beforehand. My role on the day was simple but important - helping make sure everyone who needed it got lunch and was looked after. But seeing the smiles, excitement, and relief on the faces of children, parents, and carers made it worthwhile. A powerful reminder of why this work matters. I’m also grateful to work for a company like Neos Networks that supports employees in taking time out to volunteer. A big thank you Michelle King Emily Colley and the rest of the amazing team for letting me get involved - fantastic team work to make all of this happen and what a great day for everybody - I am sure there will be a lot of very tired children (and adults) tonight. Cricket is one of my passions and I love playing for Oxfordshire over 60s. I intend to keep going way beyond 64 irrespective of creaking bones and muscles and a lot of shuffling in the field! Why? Because I’ve always believed in making work co-exist with the life I want to lead - not the other way around. ✅Yes, I work hard. ✅Yes, I care deeply about Kivue ✅Yes I love solving PPM problems with our customers. But I also make time for what energises me, challenges me, and brings me joy. Cricket’s one of those things, and its a priority. How do you make space for your passions alongside your career?

Holiday season is always a special time for us and our families. It’s when we remember that we work to live, not live to work. It’s the time that makes those late shifts and weekend efforts worthwhile. The late nights getting a document over the line, or the extra push to seize an opportunity—this is why we do it. For some, switching off means stretching out on a sun lounger with a good book and the occasional stroll to the BBQ or cocktail cabinet. Others prefer hiking through hills, cycling over mountains, or immersing themselves in new cultures and history. For me, it’s about staying active: ⛳ Golf 🧊 Cold water swimming 🛒 Visiting local markets 🔥 BBQs with my family all around me, playing silly games and—above all—laughing a lot. How do you unwind and recharge? I’d love to hear what works for you. I am going to select my favourite response, try it, and report back!!
