Andrew Cunningham shared thisI hope you are all well. Lori is running the Berlin Marathon to raise money for the London Marathon Foundation Charity to bring health and sport to all. Please help us to raise money for this great charity in honour of our great friend Greg.Andrew Cunningham shared thisOn September 29th, I'll be running the Berlin Marathon. I've decided to make this marathon count in a number of ways, and thus will be running in memory of my dear friend, Greg, and in support of the London Marathon Foundation. Greg left us too soon, but achieved so much in his 55 years. He built a wonderful family with his wife, Marian, and had a highly successful career in Finance. But before all that, Greg had excelled in the world of sport, taking a childhood passion for ski jumping all the way to the Lillehammer Olympics in 1994 as a member of the US Olympic Ski team. Greg believed in the power of sport to transform lives, because sport had transformed his own. I have the privilege of being a member of the board at London Marathon Events where our mission is to inspire activity through the events we organise. But that mission goes beyond our own events -- we pass through all profit from the organisation to the Foundation each year which in turn grants it out to recreational project across the UK. Having funded more than 55 sports since its inception, LMF aims to reach all parts of society to ensure no one is left out because, like Greg, we believe in the power of sport to transform lives. I could therefore think of no better way to honour Greg's memory than running in support of LMF, and would be grateful for any donation you might be able to give via the page below. https://lnkd.in/eAv4DM4KDonate to Running the Berlin Marathon in memory of Greg Boester, organised by Lori CunninghamDonate to Running the Berlin Marathon in memory of Greg Boester, organised by Lori Cunningham

Andrew Cunningham liked thisAndrew Cunningham liked thisI am deeply touched being named a Veteran Leader of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal and even more appreciative of the incredible community of veterans who continue to serve through leadership, education, and mentorship. Before beginning my career in higher education, the corporate world, and finance, I had the privilege of serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. The values I gained through that experience, including integrity, teamwork, and sense of duty, continue to guide my work as Vice Chancellor of the San Diego Community College District. At SDCCD, we are dedicated to empowering active duty military and veterans alike and we honor their service by helping ensure they thrive in the present and in their post service lives. San Diego is home to one of the largest veteran populations in the nation, and their continued contributions strengthen every part of our community. It is an honor to serve alongside them and to build pathways to opportunity through education.

Andrew Cunningham liked thisAndrew Cunningham liked this28 years later. In 1997, my boyfriend and I ran the NYC Marathon. A bucket-list dream — one and done, I thought. A few years later, that boyfriend was my husband, and we’d moved to London. We entered the London Marathon ballot a few times — no luck. I kept running regularly, though rarely more than 5K around my local common. Then in 2018, on an ill-fated canal boat holiday, I twisted my knee. I thought it would heal. It didn’t. After months of physio and false starts, I reluctantly accepted that my running days were over. Then came the pandemic. And suddenly, I realised how much I missed running. It was my time to think, to process — I needed it more than ever. My knee still ached, but I kept hearing about Couch to 5K. Swallowing my pride ('I was already a runner!'), I downloaded it. Nine weeks later, guided by Jo Whiley’s dulcet tones, I was running again. The app completely rehabilitated my knee. Before long, I was eyeing the London Marathon again. I entered the ballot. And then the email came: I was in. I dug out my 1997 training plan and got started. By Week Four I was injured (not the knee, thankfully). Turns out a 53-year-old body behaves differently than a 28-year-old one. Who knew? But I adapted, saw a physio, adjusted my plan — and made it to both the start and finish lines of the 2022 London Marathon. Not my best performance, but my most determined. A month later, by sheer coincidence, I was contacted about a NED role at London Marathon Events. Having just experienced the race’s magic, I jumped at the chance — and joined the board in January 2023. That’s when I learned about the Abbott World Marathon Majors — London, New York, Boston, Berlin, Tokyo & Chicago — and the special six-star medal for completing them all. I already had two stars. I couldn’t resist the challenge. I set my sights on Boston and Berlin in 2024, Tokyo and Chicago in 2025. But this time, I knew I needed to train smarter — with more strength and conditioning. Enter Pvolve: a functional fitness programme that transformed my core and overall strength in months — more than 13 years of yoga ever had. So January 2nd, 2024, I began training for Boston. And last Sunday, October 12th, I crossed the Chicago Marathon finish line and became a six-star finisher, 28 years after my first major, half a lifetime ago. Why share this? 1️⃣ In 2018, I thought I’d never run again. Since 2022, I’ve run five marathons. There’s always a way back. 2️⃣ Age isn’t a barrier. Training changes, but passion doesn’t. I ran my first marathon at 28 — but got my PB at 55. 3️⃣ If my experience inspires even one person to get back to something they love, or chase a goal that feels impossible, I’ll be thrilled. And no, it doesn’t have to be running. I imagine many of you feeling the same way about running as I do about swimming. And cycling. A triathlete, I am not. If you’ve made it this far — thank you. I tried to make it shorter, but after all, it took me 28 years to get here.

Well that was fun. The MACH X conference in London signified a key inflexion point for the MACH Alliance, whilst the slightly cumbersome acronym has served an important purpose in the formation of the Alliance, the more recent focus on Composable has created the perfect segue into the world of agentic. From various conversations with vendors and customers alike, it became abundantly clear that those organisations that have adopted composable architectures are far better placed to adopt agentic solutions in the future. There were a few key take-aways from this year's event for me, and a number of "aha" moments that make MACH events a critical part of the calendar. 💡 Some of the most important techies to enable the realisation of an agentic future were not present. Specifically those providing the data platforms for our enterprises, and the platform engineering leads orchestrating the deployment and management of our solutions. In the world of agentic, those two teams need to be front and centre, as without their support and input we risk creating a fragile agentic ecosystem prone to failure. As Dr Arthur O'Connor informed us, "less than 5% of agentic deployments in the enterprise to date have been successfully scaled". 💡 Boy is security important. It's easy to get carried away with the freedom to chain agents together to produce automated workflows and new capabilities, but we've just created the most elegant attack vector for hackers to poison these workflows or more importantly, introduce 'prompt injection' that allows them to carry out background activities without the knowledge of the initiator. This is even more true when considering the recent advent of AI browsers, given the trust end users are willing to make bookings on their behalf, how easy could it be for a nefarious agent in the workflow to collect credentials? 💡It's early days for agentic commerce, but important days nonetheless. The advent of the OpenAI agentic commerce protocol and AP2 from Google is a key step in the right direction, but one thing that was clear from conversations in the room is that the majority of our consumers are not yet ready for this. That's not to say they won't be, and soon, but the old Douglas Adams adage "Don't Panic" should ring true for most eCommerce businesses. The focus needs to be on incremental steps, fixing up your data, making your API's agent-ready and becoming best buddies with your CISO are all key steps in the process. It was great to spend time with so many smart, engaging and in some cases, tolerant people. A special mention to Jamie Hancox (one day I'll stop being your bitch), Komal Koul (my partner in crime), Jason Cottrell (many sleepless nights await), Jasmin Guthmann (my new found kindred spirit regarding dog training), Holly Hall (for the opportunity and terrible group photos) and many more. And finally, apologies to anyone I inadvertently offended over the past few days 😊 #machX #machalliance

I think this is the only tech announcement this year that doesn't include any mention of AI – let's see if the algorithm will bury it. Over the last ten years, we've seen an incredibly wide variety of delivery environments, from greenfield efforts to crisis response. We've seen valuable time wasted when struggling to add flexibility to overbuilt "COTS" solutions, as well as months relearning core lessons around accessibility or infrastructure as code. On the Nava side, one of our values is delivery over dogma – we're ruthlessly focused on how to move scalable systems to production, and how to quickly iterate to continue to deliver for our partners and end users. I'm excited to share that we're open sourcing our stack, and sharing Nava Strata, a suite of tools and components that gives government agencies everything they need to run modern digital services. We've launched critical federal and state services into production with these tools, but our goal isn't to be prescriptive. Strata allows teams to deploy quickly within AWS or Azure environments with clear paths to ATO in both federal and state environments, with multiple application templates to quickly deploy backend APIs, accessible and mobile-friendly user experiences, or quickly composing forms or business processes. We've designed the components as a part of Strata to be able to be used together or separately, allowing your teams to decide what best suits the delivery environment they're operating in. It's exciting for us to share this with the world, and we're encouraged by both government and vendor teams applying Strata in other contexts. I hope you'll take a look: https://lnkd.in/emxycvaG

The latest ExchangeWire 'The MadTech Podcast' discussion on the "last mile" highlights the gap between having first-party data and actually seeing it perform. The technical challenge isn't just bridging silos... it's activating those signals at the right moment. If a brand knows a customer is looking for a flight, but that data is trapped in a silo for 48 hours, the window of relevance has already closed. The challenge isn't just "having" data; it's the infrastructure required to move it across the digital estate in real-time. We focus on Audience Retargeting as a way to fix that timing. By staying in sync with the journey as it happens across different devices, we make sure the message matches the moment the person is in right now. Listen to the podcast here 👉 https://lnkd.in/euHrSrDn #AdTech #Retargeting #DataStrategy #MarketingTech
