It will be interesting to see where this goes, at the moment the onus is very much on publicly facing websites to manage cookie consent themselves. Developers will have to think more carefully in the coming years about how they store and share user data, especially with publicly facing websites. The biggest news: Netflix will charge $6.99 per month for its advertising-supported tier, $3 less than the company’s basic plan without ads. It’s also $1 per month lower than what Disney plans to charge for Disney+ with ads when it launches later this year. Commercials will be 15 or 30 seconds. There will be 4-5 min of them per hour. Adam Payne liked thisAdam Payne liked thisYesterday I ran my 10th marathon. My first in the UK, in Milton Keynes — and I crossed the line in 2:58:49. My 4th fastest marathon ever ✅ And my first sub‑3 in three years ✅ After a 2:50:06 in Valencia (2023), I followed it with: two marathons at 3:01 and one at 3:19... Honestly, I started to think those sub-3h faster days might be behind me. Not getting any younger. Progress getting harder. But this reminded me of something simple: mindset matters. When motivation turns into discipline, and discipline into commitment, things you thought were no longer possible suddenly are again. Very proud, very grateful — and a good reminder that limits are often self‑imposed. #MarathonRunning #Sub3 #Mindset #Discipline #Commitment #Consistency #PersonalGrowth

Two particular highlights for me… ✨On day 6(!), I co-hosted a panel, asking questions from our colleagues to our People and Places Leadership team. Talk about throwing yourself in at the deep end 😅 ✨Fast forward to today (week 6), I hosted my first Onboarding Day for a big group of new starters. It was a great experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch to share that Allwyn feeling with! They’ll all play a huge part in helping us innovate and grow The National Lottery, generating millions more for good causes! (And i am certain they’ll have a great time doing it!) I think this means that I can’t exactly call myself the new girl anymore eh Matthew Hudson 🤓 here’s to the next 6 weeks! #allwynuk #awinningcareerawaits

Nearly half a million people in the UK now work full-time in software development. New analysis of ONS data puts programmers and software development professionals as the second most common full-time occupation in the UK, behind only care workers. And in London, the South East and East of England, it takes the number one spot. Considering how often we hear about a shortage of tech talent, I think this is an interesting bit of context. The UK has a huge software workforce. The challenge for employers is often finding people with the specific technical skills, experience and location requirements they need, rather than simply finding software professionals.
