About us

Founded in 1992, Rebellion is one of Europe’s biggest independent multimedia studios. Its flagship Sniper Elite series is renowned for its authentic stealth and sniping gameplay with more than 20 million players worldwide. 2000 AD is synonymous with the absolute finest in British comic book art. With the acquisition of a $100m film studio and the world’s largest archive of English language comics, Rebellion continues to go from strength to strength. Rebellion now operates across books, comics, TV and film, but at its core it’s still a leading developer and publisher of games. Whether it’s the breathtaking intensity of Sniper Elite 4, the face-hugging terror of Aliens vs. Predator or the grindhouse frenzy of the Zombie Army series, the Oxford-based studio is revered for creating stand-out games designed to thrill.

  • The UK has the talent and creativity to build entertainment franchises that compete with the biggest in the world. We want to see more British businesses supported to develop, own and grow them. Ahead of the 2026 Budget, Rebellion has submitted proposals exploring how the UK can build on existing support for independent creative businesses and the intellectual property they create. As a proudly independent British company working across games, comics, books, film and television, we know the value of developing original stories and characters across different formats. Rogue Trooper is one example, having evolved from comics into video games and now an animated feature film. The UK's existing creative industries tax reliefs have played an important role in supporting investment in games, film and television. But the media and entertainment landscape is changing rapidly, with businesses increasingly developing characters, stories and technology across multiple formats. There is an opportunity to explore how the tax system can evolve alongside the industry, building on existing incentives while better recognising the value of British-owned IP. Our submission puts forward several ideas for discussion, including: 1. How creative tax reliefs could better recognise investment in IP developed across different formats. 2. Opportunities to encourage businesses to create, develop and retain British intellectual property. 3. Building on the Video Games Expenditure Credit, including additional support for smaller productions and a simpler application process. With more than 500 employees across the UK, we see first-hand how investment in creative businesses supports skilled jobs, innovation and economic growth. We welcome the Government's recognition of the creative industries as a priority growth sector and look forward to working with policymakers and industry partners to explore how we can help more British businesses build globally successful franchises while retaining the economic value they create here in the UK.

Rebellion do things differently. Over 30 years, it has established itself as one of the UK's most successful gaming firms, boasting multiple hit franchises, and it even won a BAFTA with its latest, and most successful, game: Atomfall. It is fiercely independent - when struggling to find a space to build out its multimedia ambitions, the firm decided that naturally, the only option was to build its own film studio from scratch. The release of Rogue Trooper last week is the latest product of this investment: well-liked by audiences and true to its source material, the film is Rebellion in a nutshell. There are few firms that take the guardianship of its IP as seriously as the Rebellion team, they love what they do. Last month, we sat down with co-founders Chris Kingsley, CBE and Jason Kingsley, MA (Oxon.), CBE to unpack their journey to this point, what makes Rebellion unique, and their plans for the future. • Friday night saw the first UK screening of Rogue Trooper at the British Film Institute (BFI), bringing together an incredible mix of cast, creatives and die-hard 2000 AD fans for a very special evening.   Among those in attendance were members of the cast, including the brilliant Aneurin Barnard, Reece Shearsmith, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield, Rob Delaney, Al Murray and Peter Serafinowicz, alongside director Duncan jones and the legendary creative talents behind Rogue Trooper, Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons.   Rebellion was also proudly represented on the red carpet by our CEO and co-founder, Jason Kingsley, MA (Oxon.), CBE, CTO and co-founder Chris Kingsley, CBE, and Head of TV & Film Ben Smith.   It was fantastic to see so many people come together to celebrate Rogue Trooper and the world of 2000 AD. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening!   #RogueTrooper #2000AD #Rebellion
