Below are the essential parts of a typical Search Console report dashboard:
Header bar elements
These elements are found at the top of the Search Console dashboard:
- The property selector: Located on the far left of the header, this dropdown menu allows you to switch between your managed properties, or to add a new property. The list includes both verified and unverified properties.
- The URL Inspection tool: The main search bar in the center of the header. Enter a URL from your current property to see detailed information about its indexed and live status.
Help for this page: Clicking this icon opens help documentation specific to the page you’re currently viewing.
User settings: Clicking this icon allows you to see and configure user-level settings. These settings affect your personal experience across all your properties in Search Console.
Message panel: Clicking this icon opens the message panel for the currently selected property. If a number is displayed on the icon, it indicates the number of unread messages. Messages are emailed to you while you’re an active member of the property.
Report and navigation elements
These elements make up the body of the dashboard:
- The navigation bar (sidebar): This is the main vertical menu on the side of the dashboard. Sections in this bar (like "Index" or "Experience") are collapsable. Many items in the navigation bar are only present if your site has data for that report. For example, the Performance on Discover report only appears if your site has appeared in Discover results. Specific reports in the Enhancements section are present only if the appropriate rich result for your site has appeared in Google Search results.
Property settings: Located at the very bottom of the navigation bar, this icon is for property-level settings, such as associating users and viewing verification details.
- Report name: The main heading (for example, "Overview," "Insights") that appears above the charts and data. The page below this title is the actual report or tool you’re viewing.
