You can use the diagnostics in Google Analytics to find and fix data issues in your property. The diagnostics feature in Google Analytics shows timely issues that are present and highlights specific actions to resolve them.
View diagnostics for your property
All users with access to the Google Analytics property can view diagnostics. However, only those with Editor access or higher can take specific action to resolve the issues shown in the diagnostic alerts.
Diagnostics can appear in various places around Google Analytics such as global banners or Data quality indicators across specific reports:
- Global banners: Diagnostics can appear in a banner across the entire property when issues with significant severity have been detected. An example would be spammy user-IDs, which can cause data to be dropped from collection when volumes have been reached.
- Data quality indicator: Diagnostics can appear in a specific report’s Data quality indicator if its data is impacted by an issue, such as spam sessions that can cause misattribution in attribution reporting. Learn more about the data quality indicator.
Note: Once data issues have been resolved, it may take up to 48 hours for the fix to reflect in the property. During that time, diagnostics may continue to appear in the Google Analytics interface.
