Growing as a game studio is a strong sign of success, but it can also be a pitfall, especially if projects don't live up to expectations. Growth makes sense in order to work faster as a team, so is there a solution for studios that doesn't involve an unsustainable period of crunch? Matt Webster, CEO of Fuse Games, recently shared their approach with GamesIndustry.biz, revealing the core team behind the recent successful launch for Star Wars: Galactic Racer was just 75. The core team worked with external partners, outsourcing work for certain areas of the game, alongside working with co-development studios, who supported development across most areas and were treated as an extension of their team. At Steer, we also understand the importance of sustainable growth and the value of collaborating with other studios. Today, our team sits at under 100 employees, who are working on a few different projects, as we look to ensure long-term sustainability. The Middle East and African games market is projected to grow by 10.3% this year, with a forecast to reach $8.5bn. What is particularly noteworthy is that mobile accounts for 64.3% of game spending in the Middle East, highlighting the dominance of the platform in our region. Additionally, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are the two largest games markets in the region at $1.65bn and $1.59bn respectively. The data clearly highlights the rapid growth of the games industry within our region, with the player population more than doubling in the last five years. There is a strong appetite among players, particularly for mobile games, presenting significant opportunities for publishers and developers to engage with a diverse and growing audience. The data paints an exciting picture for the future of the games industry across the region, with continued growth creating new opportunities for investment, development and engagement. With mobile continuing to dominate, which trends do you think will shape the region’s games industry in the coming years? #GamingIndustry #SteerStudios

How did mobile game genres fare in the first half of 2026? Across Google Play and The App Store, mobile games generated $40 Billion in gross player revenue. This is a decline of less than 1% YoY, though web store figures may be masking true market growth, as increasing direct-to-consumer spending (at $17 Billion) suggests that revenue is shifting away from app stores, rather than indicating weaker player spending overall. The top five genres in terms of global player spending were: → Strategy → Puzzle → RPG → Casino → Simulation Puzzle games have continued their growth by 20% YoY from $6.3B to $7.6B. They’re definitely a genre to keep an eye on, with the second highest growth rate globally. Notably, the success of puzzle this year has been driven significantly by the US, accounting for 48% of global revenue. At the same time, strategy remained at the top as the highest earner, after replacing RPGs in 2025, at $9.1 Billion in revenue. Which genre do you think is best positioned for the second half of the year? Let us know your thoughts below! Source in the comments ⬇️ #GamingIndustry #SteerStudios
