Review42 exists to answer one question honestly: what do people who actually use this product think of it?

Most review sites answer that with an opinion — one writer, one afternoon, one verdict. We don't. We read what real users have already said across public review platforms and community discussions, and we synthesize the consensus. The name is a nod to the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. We mostly specialize in Everything.

What we do

For each brand we cover, we gather what independent reviewers, testing labs and public review platforms report about it, and we weigh how far each source can be trusted — flagging affiliate and competitor pages so a marketing rating never counts as an impartial one. We then summarize the consensus: where sources agree, where they disagree, and what real users praise and complain about.

We describe that consensus in plain language — from mostly positive to polarized — rather than inventing a star score of our own. Every source is cited on the page, and a separate Expert assessment checks the facts each provider publishes in its own documentation. If you want to check our work, the receipts are right there.

What we don't do

We don't test products ourselves. We are not a hands-on lab, and we don't pretend to be. Our value is in reading the crowd carefully, not in adding one more opinion to it.
We don't accept payment for rankings. No brand can buy a position, a score, or a favourable word. Some outbound links earn us an affiliate commission — that is disclosed, and it never touches the ranking.
We don't publish a review we haven't grounded. A brand only goes live once we've read and cited enough independent sources to say something meaningful. Below that bar, nothing publishes — which is why you'll sometimes see a category marked "synthesis in progress" rather than a page padded with guesswork.

That last point is a hard rule, not an aspiration. The exact standard — and how we handle sources, quotes and corrections — is written out in our fact-checking and scoring policy.

How we make money

Some links to the products we cover are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Rankings are computed from user sentiment before any commercial relationship is considered, and the presence or size of a commission has no bearing on the order or the scores. Corrections

If we've got something wrong — a verdict that doesn't match the evidence, a brand misrepresented, a source misread — tell us and we'll fix it. Write to listings@review42.com and we'll look at it.
