A raster illustration for a website
A small illustration turns soft in a wide article card. Look for a larger original or a vector export first. If only the raster exists, run the image enhancer, then view the result at mobile width.
Enhance a soft or small image at 2× or 4× with the AI image enhancer. It enlarges the image and rebuilds fine detail.
A real example: a reduced copy of a watch photo beside its 4x upscale from Potto. Your own output may redraw fine detail.
A reduced source beside its enhanced result. Compare lettering, strokes and paper edges at the size of your layout.

The page layout, the slant of the writing and the order of the lines stay as they were. The image enhancer enlarges the picture. It does not redraw it.
Soft lines gain pixels and read more cleanly. Fine detail is rebuilt, so a sharp stroke can still bend the wrong way.
View both at one size, then zoom in on lettering and edges. Repeated passes add processing, not information.
Pick the scale from the destination. Then check the details that must stay recognizable.

A soft diagram can look clean while an arrow points to the wrong box. Check labels and connectors against the verified wording at slide size. The image enhancer cannot fix wording, so rebuild the diagram from an editable original.

An AI image can have the right mood but look soft in a layout. Fix content problems first, such as wrong fingers. Then enhance it and check faces, hands and key objects.
Three controls in the AI image enhancer for soft images.
Add the original file to the image enhancer, not a copy saved from a message. Look at it at the size you will use. If it only looks soft when zoomed, it may already work.
Use 2× for a web card, a slide or a print proof. Use 4× when a small source has to fill a large layout. A source that would pass the cap is scaled to fit.
The Generate button shows the price first. Check the result against the source, look at faces and lettering, then download it and keep the source.
Four things to know before you enhance an image.
01
Two scales, one price each. The price shows on the Generate button before you confirm.

02
The image enhancer limits the long edge, so a result can come back smaller than the named factor. The result line tells you when that happened.

03
Enlarging adds pixels, and the detail in them is inferred. Strokes and textures usually read more cleanly, but a rebuilt stroke can drift from the source.

04
On plans with batch access you can upload several images together. The image enhancer processes, prices and downloads each one on its own. Review every result.

When the image needs something other than a larger copy, these tools cover the next step.

What the image enhancer does, which scales and sizes it supports and what to check.
Image enhancement makes an image work better for a purpose, such as a sharper web card or slide. The Potto AI image enhancer enlarges it 2× or 4× and rebuilds fine detail. It has no exposure, denoise or repair sliders, so name the problem first.
Not exactly. Enhancement is the goal and enlargement is one way to reach it. This image enhancer enlarges and rebuilds detail, which helps when an image is too small or soft for its placement. If the problem is wrong content or a bad crop, edit the content instead.
The image enhancer accepts JPEG, PNG or WebP files up to 10 MB. The 2× option caps the long edge at 2,048 pixels and 4× at 4,096. A 1,500 by 1,000 source is scaled to fit at 2×. Each accepted file runs as a separate task.
It has no controls for white balance, exposure, noise or beauty retouching. A very dark, faded or compressed picture may lack the information to enlarge. For documents and receipts where exact characters matter, keep the original. Severe motion blur is covered on the Unblur Image page.
Verify every line and shape. The image enhancer does not know what a label or logo should say, and generated detail can change its meaning. For a logo or brand icon, start from the vector original.
Compare source and result at the same display size. Then inspect faces, lettering and fine edges at full size. Stop when the image meets its purpose. The larger file is a reviewed copy, not a replacement for the original.
You can upload an image and pick a scale without one. Enhancing opens the sign-in dialog, and your image and setting stay in place.
A failed enhancement shows the reason and a retry, and its credits are released. If the upload failed, use a supported file within the size limit. Enhancing a finished result again is a new, charged request.
Enhancing an image costs 2 credits at 2× and 6 credits at 4×. You see the price before you confirm. Failed tasks release their credits.
