2025 tested everyone working in the climate space. What stayed with me most, though, was the people — partners, organisers, farmers, and innovators — who kept showing up and doing the work, together. That’s what leaves me feeling optimistic as we step into 2026.
I saw that optimism through partnerships in action throughout the year — just a few examples among many of what’s possible when leadership, purpose, and impact come together:
👉 In Poland, with Clean Air Fund, spending time with local partners — listening to their experiences and seeing the work underway to reduce air pollution and protect health.
👉 In Kenya, with ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, Kilimo Trust, SNV, Clean Air Fund, and UMI Fund meeting farmers adopting regenerative practices, teams strengthening food systems and air quality, and innovators supporting cleaner, more accessible transport.
👉 Through our Power for Food Partnership with SNV in Eastern Africa, linking renewable energy and regenerative agriculture to support livelihoods and climate-resilience.
👉 And by working alongside other funders through the Climate & Health Funders Coalition, aligning efforts on extreme heat, air pollution, climate-related diseases, and stronger health systems.
Last year was also a year of reflection and transition for the IKEA Foundation. Working closely with our partners, we learned where we need to do better, how we can act more systemically, and how we can show up more effectively.
That learning shaped our evolving strategic direction, which we will start implementing this year.
As we move into 2026, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to our partners for your collaboration, trust, and determination. Let’s continue to lead with purpose and focus — so together, we champion change that lasts.
