New in nanoCAD 3DScan

Version 26

nanoCAD 3DScan is now a standalone product that does not require the nanoCAD Platform to be installed beforehand.

The new version of nanoCAD 3DScan also adds support for French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Chinese.
The Segmentation panel autofill command (PC_SEGMENTATION_FROM_FEATURES) adds the recognized shapes, which are aggregate ones – pipeline systems, premises, etc. – to the segmentation panel.
The PC_COMPUTE_FRACTAL_DIMS command calculates the fractal dimension of cloud points, allowing for more accurate and faster segmentation of point clouds.
Added the feature of automatic point cloud classification. Points in the point cloud will be assigned a class with high accuracy based on an analysis of the point cloud using neural network algorithms.
The possibility to switch on the Class attribute in the Command line has been added. It has become possible to switch on the Class attribute, if it is missing in a point cloud, when running point classification commands (using any method).
Improvements to the functionality of the Registration by Reference Points toolbar:

  • Improvement of the mechanism and correction of errors in identifying unnamed reference points.
  • The shift of the cloud relative to the reference points after reapplying the transformation has been corrected.
  • The possibility to register transformed point clouds has been added.
  • Intelligent selection of parameters has been implemented for iterative registration.
A new feature for automatically registering point clouds has been added. To use it, simply roughly position the point clouds and perform the registration. The point clouds will be automatically aligned relative to one another.
A message has been added when importing incorrect marker files in the Registration by Pairs of Corresponding Points toolbar.
C++ API has been developed for the tools of Segmentation, Filtering and Classification Modules. The API allows calling the functionality of these tools from the code of user-defined modules.
Improvements to the Contouring Planes functionality:

  • The appearance of spurious edges has been fixed.
  • The formation of degenerate geometric elements has been fixed.
A drawing template for 3DScan has been added with units of measurement set to meters. This simplifies working with point clouds obtained using the aerial laser scanning (ALS) method, eliminating the need for manual unit conversion after data import.
  • PC_CLOUDS_ADJUST (Adjust point clouds): Automatically aligns point clouds obtained from different sources or routes without using scanner trajectory data.
  • PC_CLOUDS_ADJUST_WITH_TRAJECTORY (Adjust point clouds using a trajectory): Aligns point clouds taking into account the trajectory data of the carrier (e.g., scanner coordinates and orientation).
  • PC_CLOUDS_TO_DEM (Create a DEM based on point clouds): Converts point clouds into a digital elevation model (DEM), allowing the creation of regular elevation meshes for analysis, planning, and visualization.
  • PC_EDIT_CAMERA (Edit camera properties): Allows you to adjust camera parameters (e.g., focal length, resolution, calibration) from configuration files.
  • PC_CALIBRATE_CAMERA (Calibrate the camera): Corrects the internal and external parameters of cameras, minimizing image distortions and increasing the accuracy of data processing (e.g., when creating orthophotos).
  • PC_PHOTO_TO_ORTHO – Image orthotransformation.
  • PC_MOSAIC command is designed for creating orthophotomosaics from a set of overlapping images.
  • Added the ability to load, unload, and delete multiple clouds from the warehouse at once.
  • Added point cloud upload completion control into the warehouse.
  • Logging of data exchange with the PCV server and local database has been improved.
  • Improved the connection management PC_STORAGE_CONFIG dialog.
  • The warehouse connection management panel PC_EDIT_STORAGE has been improved.
  • Bug fixes.
  • All geometry input commands are brought to a unified view: a common interface with manual point selection, reports, and closure error tables is available. Improved data control: added sorting and coloring of points by deviations, the ability to exclude redundant points, and removed redundant visual elements
  • The RCS_WIRE_SKELETON_FROM_CLOUD tool has added the capability to precisely specify section levels in the interface. The height is set specifically for each section relative to the initial level (Initial Height).
  • The PC_VOXEL_DOWNSAMPLE point cloud resampling command has added a mode that preserves the original measured data instead of generating new points. Now, within each voxel, the most suitable existing vertex closest to the point cloud's center of mass is automatically selected.
  • A new parameter Use Resampled Cloud has been added to the RCS_PIPE_FEATURES command, allowing computations to be performed on resampled data (accounting for grouping accuracy) but applying the results to the original cloud.
  • Support for smoothing color interval boundaries for discrete coloring has been implemented.
