Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro (often abbreviated to VP) is a Russian professional esports organization founded in 2003. The organization has been based in Armenia since 2022. Virtus.pro are famous for their teams in Counter-Strike and Dota 2 and joined the Overwatch 2 scene on June 11, 2024 with the signing of Ataraxia.

On June 11, 2024, Virtus.pro signed the roster of Ataraxia ahead of the Esports World Cup 2024. This roster consisted of sHockWave, Clowd, and Khenail from the old core of Ex Oblivione, along with veterans Sauna and Galaa, and rounded out by rookie tank Raajaro. While considered an underdog team, they achieved 2^nd in the FACEIT Master Season 1 Regular Season, notably defeating two-time OWCS runners-up ENCE.^[1] In the playoffs, they were reverse swept by ENCE in the upper bracket, but qualified to EWC as the region's 5^th seed after a tiebreaker match versus Quick Esports. The team was known for its Illari-based double-flex support composions, enabled by Galaa's unique hero pool.^[1]

The team was then joined by ex-Gladiators coach SMASH for EWC. At the tournament, they achieved 1^st seed in their group, even beating EMEA's #1 team in Spacestation Gaming. Qualifying directly to the quarterfinals, they faced the Dallas Major runners-up Team Falcons, who defeated them 1-4, knocking them out of the tournament. sHockWave in particular was noted for his performance.^[2] In all four of their matches, the opposing team banned their signature Illari pick.^[3]

In OWCS Stage 3, VP defeated Spacestation Gaming in a massive upset, which only 16% of fans predicted.^[4] After being swept by ENCE, they defeated SSG again in the lower bracket, this time in a 3-0 sweep. Advancing to the team's first ever Grand Finals appearance, they were once again defeated by ENCE, placing 2^nd in the region.

On January 20, 2025, VP announced their roster for OWCS 2025, which featured ex-ENCE Vestola alongside Korean imports JaeWoo and FiXa.^[5] Despite being initially ranked near the middle of the pack by analysts,^[6] they finished the Stage 1 regular season with a 7-0 match record. Analysts in particular noted JaeWoo's mechanical skill on Genji despite his relative lack of experience and young age, at just 17.^{[citation needed]} VP went on to defeat Al Qadsiah twice in the playoff bracket to handily win the championship, and Vestola was named the EMEA Stage 1 Super Star.
