Leaders from the Joint Modernization Command visited the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home this week to deliver Christmas gifts and learn more about the home’s mission in El Paso, Texas.
Italia Solis, director of community relations and development at the home, explained the range of programs offered to support children and families in transition. Through counseling, short- and long-term residential services, or foster care, the home provides the care, structure and support needed to help children and families heal and thrive.
“Lee Moor and his wife, Beulah, created the children’s home in 1959, and when they passed away, they left it in their will that they would cover all the costs for wages and the buildings,” Solis said. “That way, 100 percent of every donated dollar or gift goes to the children. Some children have never received a Christmas gift, so we try to get them as much as we can.”
JMC’s Unit Ministry Team (Chaplain Doosoo Lee and Sgt. 1st Class Midine Beauvais) organized the gift drive for the home, and the Soldiers, civilians and contractors of JMC donated a van full of gifts to brighten the holidays.
