LanScan overview
LanScan is a simple and efficient IPv4 network-scanner that discovers all active devices on any subnet--local or public--that you configure.
Features
- Auto-detection of configured interfaces: airport, Ethernet, virtual interfaces, etc.
- Scan the IP range you like, from 1 IP to the whole IPv4 address space!
- Scan your local network with ARP packets
- Scan public IP network ranges with Ping / SMB / mDNS packets
- Display the IP address, MAC address, hostname (4 max) and vendor associated
- Discover the SMB domain if any configured

COSTS: The description in App Store is out-of-date as it doesn't refer to version 7. Also, the descriptions of exactly what is being purchased are uncertain. From looking inside the app itself, it appears that there are simply TWO purchase options. (1) The addition of full IPv4 functions, and (2) The additions of full IPv6 functions. The FREE version is hobbled to list only four IPv4 connections. - - From the App Store: "In-App Purchases: • LanScan Pro v6 Purchase - $5.99. • LanScan Pro IPv4 In-App - $5.99. • LanScan Pro IPv6 In-App - $14.99. • LanScan Pro In-App v6 Upgrade - $0.99." - - From the "Upgrade" cost listing, I'm going to assume upgrading from v6 to v7 remains "$0.99." - - -> My summary is that this app is for special uses, such as those of a large LAN manager or someone managing a series of WAN Internet sites. It's redundant for LAN purposes to data available on any WAN connected cable/ISP connected modem, in which case don't bother.
