Alon Reichman שיתף את זהLast week I had the opportunity to present Optimal Sense AI at Stanford University in California, as part of my MBA in Climate Tech Management at Reichman University, through the EcoGlobal program run by Stanford Ecopreneurship. The peak of the program was the Demo Day, where we pitched in front of global climate VCs after an 8-week intensive in which I met entrepreneurs from around the world. A huge thank you to Michal Vakrat Wolkin for leading the MBA in Climate Tech Management at Reichman University and making this collaboration happen. To the incredible EcoGlobal team, Elena Garidis and Keegan Cooke. To our great mentors, who guided us throughout the journey: Yael Parag, Michal Vakrat Wolkin and Ron Erd To Guy Michlin, who gave us sharp feedback right before our pitch. And of course, to my visionary partner Yoav Nahum, and to my classmates Daniella Mazor and Nadav Hodeda Sharkany, who successfully presented their venture, AVI. We also had the chance to meet Jimmy Chen at the Stanford Faculty Club for an inspiring discussion about climate resilience, adaptation, and why execution is the best way to learn. Lastly, we joined a live microgrid tour of the Stanford Farm, led by Sergio Sánchez López. His fascinating insights reminded me how important it is to help small and medium businesses increase their resilience, reduce their energy costs, and participate in the energy market. Alon Reichman שיתף את זהFrom New York to Stanford: last week I was on the Reichman University MBA tour, and next week I’ll be pitching Optimal Sense AI at the EcoGlobal Demo Day, part of Stanford University Climate Tech Week. Here are 12 takeaways from New York, through my eyes as an energy tech founder: 1. Jeff Johnson of B Capital explained why he backed one of his portfolio companies: "customers who actually want to buy, and software that makes the hardware smarter." 2. Richard Dovere of Dispatch Energy: “If you find great mentors in your life, keep them.” 3. David Callen of MN8 Energy: “It’s really a cost of capital game.” 4. Josh Troy of Logical Buildings reminded us that "a strong moat combines strong technology with deep customer relationships." 5. Daniel Baruch and Gene Murphy of JPMorganChase, whose team invests in early-stage climate and energy tech, summed up the market in one line: “Speed to power is the only name in town right now.” 6. Kunal Sinha of Valor: "The hardest part is building the right team and convincing great people to take the leap." 7. Brian Steinberg of At One Ventures: "Be obsessed with the customer and with how you commercialize your product". 8. Susan Schofer of SOSV HAX: "Clearly define your unique value proposition". 9. Shlomi Pasternak of Google Research urged us to start with the use case before collecting and analyzing complex data: “Sometimes we really enjoy our ability to collect the data… and then we come to the market and it’s not very clear what’s the use case.” 10. Ofek Ron of Oshi “When you do a startup you need to do one thing the best in the world - only one.” 11. Howard N. Apsan, Ph.D. of Columbia University: Hurricane response hasn’t changed much since Sandy. “Technology doesn’t exist in a vacuum. There is a human part.” We need better tools to engage the people on the ground. 12. And finally, the inspiring Professor Sheena Iyengar of Columbia Business School gave us practical tools for approaching any problem. "The best solutions come from outside the box, by borrowing from other boxes." Alon Reichman שיתף את זהI’m excited to share that I've been selected to participate in the Stanford University's Ecopreneurship Global Intensive this summer! 🌍⚡ EcoGlobal is an eight-week program run by Stanford Ecopreneurship. The course is a part of an academic collaboration opportunity through the MBA Climate-Tech Management program at Reichman University - Arison School of Business, of which I am proud to be a part. I'll be taking part as the founder of Optimal Sense AI, my EnergyTech venture. Over the next eight intensive weeks, students from Stanford University, Reichman University, and other leading universities around the world will work alongside entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investors from Silicon Valley to develop and refine ventures addressing some of the world's most pressing energy and climate challenges. The highlight of the experience will be a visit to Stanford University, where we will meet fellow students, faculty members, and leaders from Silicon Valley's entrepreneurial and investment community during #StanfordClimateWeek. The journey will culminate in a Demo Day on October 21 💫 where Reichman University students will present their ventures alongside teams from Stanford and other global universities to an audience of founders, investors, executives, and industry leaders. Alon Reichman אהבתי את זהAlon Reichman אהבתי את זהLast spring, I joined the first Venture Discovery cohort of Boulder Climate Ventures at University of Colorado Boulder. That’s where I met Marc Manyé Ibáñez and joined AnodeWorks, working on the business side of bringing his chemical engineering research out of the lab. Last week, that work took us to Stanford University, where Marc and I pitched AnodeWorks at Stanford Ecopreneurship Demo Day. AnodeWorks is developing an electrochemical manufacturing platform to help address the scale-up challenges facing bioplastics. Working alongside Marc has given me a chance to connect what I’m learning in my MBA with the questions behind commercializing a new technology: what it costs, where it fits in the market, and how to communicate its potential. Beyond Demo Day, we heard Tom Steyer discuss climate investment and policy and toured Stanford’s Central Energy Facility. We also fit in some running side quests: a few miles around campus and a couple workouts on the Stanford track. Thank you to Katherine Ratledge, Mike McGehee, Betsy Klein, and Trent Yang for building Boulder Climate Ventures - CU Boulder and supporting us through Venture Discovery. And thank you to Elena Garidis and the Stanford Ecopreneurship team for welcoming us and making the week possible. Finally, thanks to Marc for bringing me into this work and inviting me to Stanford. I've been wanting to take my AI skills further for a while now, and I'm not alone - many other PMs I know use AI for chatting, brainstorming, and planning, but struggle to take it further. Building their own tools, agents, and workflows is where things get confusing. So I figured, why not turn this into something we can all learn from? My last game shut down in August, and I'm currently between roles. Seems like a good time to give this a proper shot. I'm calling it From PM to AI PM. The plan is simple: build and ship a real mobile game, while building reusable AI tools along the way. 11 phases, from setup to live ops. Every phase moves the game forward and adds another tool to the AI setup. Phase 0 starts now. I'll share what I build, what breaks, and what I learn every few days. And once the game's live, I'll share a step-by-step guide so you can build your own AI tools and follow the process yourself. Swipe through the plan, and follow along!
