About us

Bold Donut helps organisations to engage and activate their audiences on topics like waste-segregation and sustainable energy use through customisable digital games. Think Candy Crush, but for the planet… Our customisable digital games offer our clients a new and innovative way to engage their audiences on difficult everyday topics by making them fun and simple. Our games are designed to be engaging like commercial games such as Candy Crush while also using behaviour change frameworks to motivate action. Players are engaged for between 3-7 minutes on average and increase their understanding by up to 100%. Our waste game is currently used as part of employee engagement campaigns and a national waste campaign in both the UK and Ireland. It is entirely customisable according to the organisation's brand, learning objectives and local waste guidelines. Our energy game was launched in December 2024 with the Irish distribution grid operator. It is designed to help utilities and energy companies to engage and activate their audiences on topics like demand flexibility, the impact of renewables and relative energy intensity of appliances.     At Bold Donut our Circular Hero for 2026 is Peter Gregory from Green Bubble! Last year Nathan and I attended the Circular.ie "Full Circle Awards" and had a great time - there were some amazing initiatives being taken by individuals and businesses. This year we're nominating Green Bubble for providing a truly circular solution to packaging waste. They're helping businesses cut costs, reduce CO₂ emissions, and turn packaging waste into a positive impact — all through the power of reuse! By giving bubble wrap, foam rolls, hexacomb boards, and acetate sheets a second life, they're helping organisations reduce their environmental footprint while keeping perfectly reusable materials out of incineration and export.
