This article is kind of a bizarre mess - it's about a group of postmodern artists, but it seems to have been written either by the artists themselves or by someone closely associated with them, using the artists' own jargon. The result is fairly incomprehensible.
I've done a bit of cleanup of the worst of it, but I don't claim to know anything about the subject. (I don't know if they're even a notable group, really; most of the references are to the artists' own blog.) Is there any chance someone with a better knowledge of this field can take a look and rework this in a more encyclopedic style? Omphalographer (talk) 19:24, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Francis Bacon (artist) has an RfC (June 2026)
[edit]Francis Bacon (artist), which is within the scope of this WikiProject, has an RfC for possible consensus. A discussion is taking place. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments on the discussion page.
It has been kindly facilitated by a frantic turtle. Thank you. Taghdtaighde (talk) 23:08, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
Honorific titles
[edit]Should a memorial include the honorific title like Dame or Lord before the name? APK hi :-) (talk) 09:05, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- In what context? Probably, yes. Johnbod (talk) 17:41, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Johnbod: - Louisa Aldrich-Blake was a Dame and I'm writing about her memorial in London, so it should be "Dame Louisa Aldrich-Blake Memorial"? I wasn't sure because ones like the Victoria Memorial, London don't include "Queen" before it. I just noticed Sir William Glasgow Memorial so it looks like there's a precedent. APK hi :-) (talk) 03:21, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, I notice the memorial itself just has the DBE initials, rather than "Dame" out front. I'd guess don't use it here, but is there a WP:COMMONNAME ? Johnbod (talk) 03:29, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- I've seen it described different ways, but it's listed as "Memorial to Dame Louisa Aldrich Blake in Tavistock Square Gardens" by Historic England. APK hi :-) (talk) 03:55, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- Ok that's fairly official, so you could go either way (without the address). Johnbod (talk) 03:57, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

The article Mark Nelson (Chicago artist) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability concerns for 9 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Poorly sourced BLP. Created by a SPA, probably the subject himself.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 01:57, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
L'Estaque
[edit]Hi. The article on L'Estaque is currently very short, contains no sources, and provides very little information. Could someone please expand and improve it, perhaps using the corresponding French article at fr:L'Estaque as a starting point? I'm also posting this here because L'Estaque has a significant artistic heritage, having been closely associated with several major painters. Members of this project may also be able to expand the section on the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters associated with the area. ~2026-38797-63 (talk) 07:26, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Why is "Hierarchy of genres" a low status article Visual Arts?
[edit]The hierarchy of genres greatly influenced Western art during the 18th and 19th centuries. Shouldn't it be rated of a HIGH rather than LOW importance within the Visual Arts project?
It is also in dire need of improvement on many levels. I have put in into my to-do bucket but not with a high priority as I am currently working on improving articles on paintings by J. M. W. Turner, who successfully challenged it during the first half of the 19th century with very smart tactics (see Snow Storm: Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps if you are curious as to how he did it).JP 21:36, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- As I've told you there it has NO importance rating for VA, because we don't do them. Johnbod (talk) 22:33, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

Visual-art sourcing feedback requested on Draft:Yan Li
[edit]Hello, I have submitted Draft:Yan Li through Articles for Creation. I am the longtime partner of Yan Li's daughter and have disclosed this close personal connection on my user page.
The draft covers Yan Li's involvement with the Stars Art Group, his exhibitions in China and New York, contemporary art press coverage, and museum collections. I would be very grateful for comments from uninvolved visual-arts editors on the sourcing, neutrality, terminology, or scope of the visual-art material. I have also posted a general feedback request at WikiProject China. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at the draft and for any guidance you may be able to offer.
