Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Sophisticatedevening was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hello, Nighfidelity! Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! See you there! Sophisticatedevening(talk) 17:19, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nightfidelity — thank you for taking the time to review the draft.
I’ve revised the article to more clearly demonstrate notability in line with WP:BOOK and WP:GNG. In particular, the Reception section now explicitly frames coverage in The Wire, Mojo, and Wax Poetics as independent reviews, including evaluative commentary rather than descriptive mentions.
I’ve also added additional independent editorial context (outside the Reception section) to clarify how the book has been referenced by third-party publications beyond publisher or interview material.
I hope these changes address the concerns you raised, but I’d be grateful for any further guidance if there’s something specific you feel is still missing. Thanks again for your time and feedback. DizzyKode (talk) 11:29, 4 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Alibaba.com wikipedia page

[edit]

Dear Nighfidelity,

I recently submitted an article for Wikipedia titled Alibaba.com and not only was it rejected but you indicated it can not be resubmitted? What is the reason for that? Also I actually did not use AI to write it so unsure why you have referred to it as AI slop? Readingcues (talk) 04:47, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the sources used in this article are promotional websites with dubious reliability and/or signs of AI writing (Alibaba Seller Central, AI Business, etc.) While there are also a collection of reliable sources, this article, those would be better included in the main page at Alibaba Group. Nighfidelity (talk) 04:54, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for the clarification. Yes when I went back and read your feedback I see that your comment in regards to AI slop was referring to the sources not the article itself. Point taken, I actually used the Alibaba one as primary sources for some information and it never occurred to me that that it could be written by an LLM, but it brings forth an important point that I clearly understand now. I will change these sources and check all the rest for any content that has been written by an LLM. Readingcues (talk) 05:49, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing: The reason why I created a separate page for Alibaba.com is because there are separate pages for AliExpress, Taobao, AliPay etc. Why would Alibaba.com not get its own page since it is a separate business entity similar to the ones I mentioned above? Readingcues (talk) 05:56, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the notice to allow other reviewers to give their opinion. Nighfidelity (talk) 04:57, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Literally no sources connected to company

[edit]

Hi, I know a lot of editors maybe never heard of Pure Fishing but it's literally the biggest fishing tackles company at least in the Western World. You say it's probably notable despite it's well covered in Bloomberg, but the reason you reject it is because majority of sources are connected to it? Like which one? I can't find a single one that isn't independent of the company? JaredMcKenzie (talk) 22:08, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, although it would pass WP:NCORP, the vast majority of sources won't contribute to notability.
  • Ref 1 is from Moody's talking about how they upgraded the company's rating (a primary source)
  • Refs 2 and 3 are company profiles, which are also primary
  • Ref 4, the Des Moines Register article, mainly covers its founder Berkley Bedell, as he was a prominent politican
  • Ref 5 is from an investment bank
  • Refs 6 and 7 are from market growth companies (primary sources)
  • Refs 8 and 10 are reliable, in my opinion. (one is from MarketWatch and the other is from Reuters)
  • Ref 9 is a duplicate of Ref 1
  • Ref 11 is from Pure Fishing's parent company
  • Refs 12 and 13 are Bloomberg articles (generally reliable according to WP:BLOOMBERG)
  • Refs 14, 15, 16, and 20 cover Bedell primarily
  • Refs 17 and 18 don't cover the company primarily
  • Ref 19 is from a zine, so I'm not sure of its reliabilty
  • Refs 21 and 23 are reliable as they are from Reuters and FT.
  • Ref 22 is from a fishing company
  • Refs 24 to 33 are routine coverage of the company
  • Ref 34 is a duplicate of Ref 13
  • Refs 35 and 37 is somewhat reliable
  • Ref 36 is from a financial market company, and so shouldn't be used
  • Ref 38 is an interview and should be considered as primary
  • Refs 39 to 40 are reliable as they are from trusted newspapers (The Guardian piece especially)
  • Refs 41, 45, 46, and 47 are reviews of one of their products
  • Ref 42 to 44 are routine company coverage
  • Refs 48 to 54 are coverage of them winning the ICAST award (not sure how reputable it is due to the fact that coverage is limited to fishing news)
  • Refs 55 to 56 are reliable
  • Refs 57 to 61 only mention the company somewhat
If you can substitute the primary coverage with secondary sources (they can be found on ProQuest and Newspapers.com), I'll accept it. Nighfidelity (talk) 22:52, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
So? Almost all but one aren't connected to the company so you shifted your reasoning. And what's even your point? As long as I have around ten strong sources that firmly establish WP ORGCRIT. What does it matters if the rest are more minor and doesn't? I have Market watch that cites Goldman Sachs saying it's particularly strong on impact on its industry. I have Moody's which doesn't lie and are independent experts that also confirms ita brands are widely recognized globally by fishermen enthusiasts. I have Bloomberg repeatedly reporting on its finances. That alone is enough to establish notability and the rest is irrelevant.JaredMcKenzie (talk) 23:27, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
