Ways to improve Kalyn Heffernan
[edit]Hi, I'm DCI2026. Kencf0618, thanks for creating Kalyn Heffernan!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. A slightly more encyclopedic (or a tad dryer) tone might be appropriate for the article. Notability could be further ascertained through the inclusion of more sourced content on the page; however, current references should suffice.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Your changes to Yellow Dog
[edit]Please do not start an edit war. I started a discussion on the talk page and gave policy reasons for the reversion. Please discuss there and see if we can make a compromise within the word count recommended by policy. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 23:44, 10 September 2026 (UTC)

Your edits to various Maigret novels
[edit]Hello there
Will you please take more care in your edits to these articles.
1) Your grammar and wording are often very poor. For example "after had telling Maigret everything he know" here. We all make mistakes with grammar and spelling, but yours is often very bad. Please use a grammar and spelling checker before you change the sentences of other editors.
2) You persist in adding (in my view, unnecessary) detail to the plot summaries of novels that are already over the recommended word count under policy. I have pointed this out to you on several occasions but you persist in doing it. I am happy to work with you to make plot summaries clear and concise within the recommended word limit.
3) Please stop using American spelling in articles where the established usage is British English. I have already asked you on several occasions to check the English variety before you make edits.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation with these requests.
Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 04:36, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- 1) tYpo
- 2) Simenon's hugely intricate plots and twists & turns, even by the standards of the genre, need the latitude.
- 3) Did Linda Asher, Athea Bell, David Bellow, Linda Coverdale, David Coward, Howard Curtis, Siân Reynolds, and Ros Schwartz use British English?
- kencf0618 (talk) 14:29, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- 1) Not a typo: it's a whole phrase written in gibberish.
- 2) I have already explained to you several times that not every twist and turn of the plot needs to be included. I have also quoted policy on the matter several times. There is latitude under policy: 400-700 words. When the plot summary is already over 700 words please stop adding unnecessary detail.
- 3) When there is an established English variety you should stick to it. It doesn't matter who the translator is. (By the way, all the translations you mention above were first published in British English. Except, perhaps, Linda Coverdale's). Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 04:38, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have also removed the pictures you have added to several of the Maigret articles because the pictures were 21st century photos showing people in modern dress. The relevant novels were set in the early 1930s so the photos are anachronistic and do not convey the atmosphere of the novels. If you can find photos of La Coupole and Gare du Nord from the early 1930s, that might be a different matter. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 04:42, 20 September 2026 (UTC)

Warning
[edit]I have asked you many times to check your spelling and grammar before you make changes to the Maigret articles. However, you continue to make changes that are so poorly written they make the article worse rather than better and I have to waste considerable time trying to rewrite them. Spelling and grammar checkers are readily available so please either use them or stop making edits to the prose of articles.
Also please stop making changes for their own sake. For example, here you changed "Maigret interrogates Radek who makes a full confession." to "Radek who makes a full confession at his interrogation." So you changed a perfectly good English sentence to a sentence which is complete nonsense for the sake of making a change. I list other apparently pointless changes you have made here, here and here.
Here are some examples of your obvious errors since I asked you yesterday to take care: "Inspector Maigret "As he follows them , he is shot in the street." Here. "Heurtin pacing outside the brasserie seemingly waiting for a young red-headed man sitting in the brasserie" here. "Radek met Heurtin by chance and induced him to commit a burglary at the unoccupied at a specific time." Here. Also this passage here: "That night, Maigret and Leroy surveil Emma and witness her meeting the vagrant in the vacant across the street. house. Emma and the man leave and Maigret sends Leroy to tail them, but they lose. Maigret then learns that a customs officer had shot in the calf while Emma and the vagrant had been under watch, and via telegram that Servières had been arrested in Paris."
I have also asked you many times not to make edits in US English when the established variety is British English. For example, if the established spelling of verbs is "realise", "authorise", "recognise", don't start spelling them "realize", "authorize", "recognize" as you did here. "Dr Jones" is a perfectly correct abbreviation (and is preferred in British English: See MOS:PS). If it is already used in an article, don't change it to "Dr. Jones, " etc, as you did here. The relevant policy is MOS:RETAIN. I have already pointed this out to you several times. Spaced en dashed are also perfectly acceptable, so please stop changing them to em dashes. MOS:DASHVAR
If you continue making changes for their own sake, changing perfectly good English into nonsense, and ignoring the established style and English variety of articles I will report you for persistent disruptive editing. I don't want to do this, so please take more care and stop expecting other editors to clean up the mess you make. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 12:16, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
- Go ahead. kencf0618 (talk) 03:18, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
Referral to ANI
[edit]I have referred you to the ANI here because I believe you are engaged in disruptive editing. I warned you yesterday but you again made unnecessary changes to a plot summary which brought it well over the maximum length recommended by policy: here. I have repeatedly asked you not to do this. ECRWSSEDDM moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to ECRWSSEDDM. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:13, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
