Rueben Bain Jr. (born September 8, 2004) is an American college football defensive end for the Miami Hurricanes.
Early life
[edit]Bain Jr. was born on September 8, 2004 in Miami, Florida to parents Reuben Bain Sr. and Lechande Johnson. Bain hailed from an athletic background, his father, Bain Sr., was a two-way lineman for Miami Carol City Senior High School. His grandfather, Herman Bain, was a three-sport anthlete at Miami Northwestern Senior High School.[1] Bain Jr. attended Jupiter Community High School in Jupiter, Florida, later transferring to Miami Central Senior High School in Miami, Florida.[2] During his high school career he had 77 sacks.[3] He was the Miami Herald 5A-IND Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2021 and won the Nat Moore Trophy, given South Florida's best player, his senior year in 2022.[4][5] He played in the 2023 Under Armour All-America Game.[6] Bain Jr. committed to the University of Miami to play college football.[7]
College career
[edit]Bain Jr. earned immediate playing time his true freshman year at Miami in 2023.[8] He became a starter after Akheem Mesidor suffered an injury during the second game of the season.[9]
