Open-Xchange’s work with Schleswig-Holstein to migrate 44,000 mailboxes and around 110m emails and calendar entries – "the entire digital working memory of the state administration," as Digitalization Minister Dirk Schrödter describes it – is explored in an article in welt.de, which looks at Hamburg’s challenge of balancing digital sovereignty, security and practical risks. Schleswig-Holstein’s move to a wholesale open source approach is something that had never been attempted by an organization of its size before, so presented new challenges that had to be considered.
