Access Alliance plays a vital role in Toronto by providing primary health care, settlement services, and advocacy for immigrants, refugees, and communities facing systemic barriers. Through the deep conversations in this process, their mission to advance health equity and inclusion resonated deeply with me. Souvik Adhya liked thisWhat an amazing journey!!! 👏Souvik Adhya liked this8,000 miles from home. Four months. One aircraft. A landmark first for IIT Kharagpur. Making its first-ever appearance at the prestigious AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition, a 21-member student team from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur designed, built, tested and successfully flew a complete aircraft within just four months — taking their engineering from the campus to the global stage in Wichita, Kansas, USA. Competing against 98 university teams, 1,179 students and participants from 12 countries, Team IIT Kharagpur delivered an impressive maiden performance — 39th globally, 5th in Asia, and the highest total score among all Indian teams. From aerodynamics, structures and propulsion to avionics, CAD, manufacturing and flight validation, the students transformed concepts into a flight-ready aircraft under demanding timelines — demonstrating the power of hands-on engineering, teamwork and innovation. The achievement was enabled by the strong support of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Aerial Robotics Kharagpur (ARK) Lab, along with the mentorship of Prof. Arnab Roy, Anup Ghosh, Naba Kumar Peyada, Prof. sandeep saha and Prof. Somesh Kumar. The Institute also acknowledges the valuable support of MNFIC, IIT Kharagpur Foundation, Aerial Robotics Kharagpur and Mr. Arjun Malhotra, whose contributions helped take this ambitious student initiative to the international stage. Our sincere gratitude to Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director IIT Kharagpur, for his steadfast encouragement and support in empowering students to pursue ambitious engineering challenges and represent the Institute globally. This is more than a ranking. It is IIT Kharagpur’s first footprint on one of the world’s most demanding student aircraft design competitions — and another step forward in strengthening a culture of experiential learning, innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering. Congratulations to the entire team on this remarkable maiden achievement, and best wishes as they continue to design, innovate and take IIT Kharagpur to greater heights on the global stage. #AIAADBF #IITKharagpur #DesignBuildFly #AerospaceEngineering #EngineeringInnovation #StudentInnovation #IITKGP Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi

Recently Atul Arya hosted a Podcast with Varun Sivaram , founder and CEO of Emerald AI. I would urge you all to hear the podcast. Key takeaways: AI is creating the largest electricity demand shock the global power system has seen in over a century. -AI data centers today consume roughly 4–5% of U.S. electricity. -That demand is expected to double within the next three years. -By the early 2030s, AI data centers could represent 25% or more of total U.S. power demand — if the grid can supply it. And that is the chllaenge or bottleneck as we call it. The power system was built for decades of flat demand. It is not ready for compounding, AI-driven load growth. At best, the grid can currently deliver only about one third to half of the power AI data centers want to connect in the near term. This is not an incremental stress point. It is a structural constraint as we advance into the AI world. The Global AI Race Is Now an Energy Race effectively. AI race is increasingly defined by two constraints: - The U.S. leads in chips and AI models — but is constrained by power. -China has abundant power capacity — but is constrained by advanced semiconductors. By 2030, China could have ~400 GW of spare generation capacity available for AI. The U.S., meanwhile, faces a growing “electron gap.” If the U.S. cannot power AI at scale, it could potentially risk losing leadership in the defining technology of this century. There is an incorrect framing taking place, which is: If we build AI infrastructure then power prices will rise. If we don’t build it at the pace we need, the AI deployment will slow down. The real opportunity is to unlock flexibility in Grid, and AI data centres. AI data centers are fundamentally different from any demand class the grid has seen before: -A single facility can equal the load of a city -Workloads are digitally controlled -Computation can be slowed, paused, or shifted geographically in seconds This means AI can become flexible demand, stepping back during rare peak-grid stress moments instead of forcing massive overbuilds. If AI demand becomes flexible: -Existing grid infrastructure can support far more load -Data centers connect faster -Consumer power prices stay lower -Utilities avoid unnecessary capital expansion -AI deployment accelerates AI does not have to be the grid’s problem. If handled correctly, AI can become the grid’s most responsive, controllable demand asset. The AI race will not be won by chips alone. It will be won by whoever can deliver reliable electrons at scale — intelligently, flexibly, and affordably. This is now one of the most important energy imperatives of our time. Countries, Companies, Policy Makers, Financiers, Technologists all have to come together to deliver this. https://lnkd.in/gPkGkeEe #AI #Electricity #DataCenters #PowerMarkets #EnergyTransition #LNG #GasToPower #NaturalGas

Long term infrastructure financing through long term focused pension funds and that too in sustainable projects is a win win for all. Hope this matchmaking fructifies soon and boosts the manufacturing sector Capex which is the need of the hour as services sector seems to be taking a breather.
