  • Having a hybrid DBI process is an important step in China achieving a leading-edge image sensor technology on-shore. At TechInsights, reports have been compiled for three recent parts made in China, each nominally with 2.4 µm hybrid DBI pitch in the periphery: 👉Omnivision OV52A (found in the OPPO Find X9 Ultra rear periscope-telephoto camera) 👉Rear-facing main camera from the Huawei Mate 80 👉Rear-facing main camera from the Honor Magic 8 Pro Our report compares these parts with benchmark image sensors built outside of China. • A technology that moves from one early-adopter supplier to several production-qualified sources is telling you something. So is a technology that gets integrated directly onto the main board instead of staying in a discrete module. Engineers who see that pattern before committing to a roadmap decision are working from a fuller picture than those who don't.That's what teardown intelligence provides: documentation of what's actually shipped, tracked across products and time. Not a forecast. Confirmed component identity, alloy composition, integration method, and design pattern, watched across successive product generations. New white paper for R&D and engineering teams: Staying Ahead of Component and Integration Trend. Read more 👉https://bit.ly/4xPhaDu

I’m extremely pleased to announce that TechInsights is now syndicating Microprocessor Report on Substack, at https://lnkd.in/gdbk3r-P. This is a monumental change: in the nearly 40-year history of MPR, it has always been a subscription-only product—for the first time, we’re providing short-form analysis (“quick takes”) for free, while long-form analysis is published as the executive summary and the product/market context on Substack, with the full analysis on the TechInsights Platform. From a personal standpoint, as someone whose career started in journalism, it's really gratifying for me to be able to more easily share what I'm working on with the world. I hope you'll subscribe to see my analysis, and the analysis of my wonderful colleagues, Chad Davis, Dylan McGrath, and David MacQueen.
