CEFP recertification

Maintain your professional edge.

Why recertify?

The facilities profession is constantly evolving. Recertification keeps you current with:

Emerging trends and technological advancements.

Best practices that reduce costs and improve operations.

New knowledge that strengthens your leadership impact.

Your CEFP designation is more than letters after your name. It signals ongoing excellence, credibility, and a commitment to professional growth. To check your certification status, review your profile in the CEFP Directory.

Requirements

90 points per cycle

Earned within each three-year cycle.

At least 30 from education

If you earned your CEFP on May 12, 2025, your credential expires on May 11, 2028.

How to recertify

1

Record your activities across the required categories in the CEFP recertification spreadsheet.

2

Complete and attest

Indicate your total points earned and confirm that the information provided is accurate. Credits from APPA-provided programming can be found in your Member Compass.

3

Purchase your recertification

The fee is $300. During the process you will be asked to upload your completed spreadsheet.

4

Verification

APPA reserves the right to request substantiating documentation for any activities listed in your attestation.

Track your own expiration date

Reminder emails are sent, but it is each individual's responsibility to track their expiration date and keep their contact information current.

If you do not recertify

Your CEFP expires and you must remove CEFP from your name.

Your name is removed from APPA's CEFP online directory.

You will need to purchase the CEFP prep course and exam again to regain your credential.

Retired CEFP holders

Retirees are not required to earn points.

To renew, submit a letter on company letterhead, signed by HR or a department chair, confirming your retirement date.

This must be done before your credential expires.

There is no fee for retiree renewal.
