Winter Returns Across the Northern Tier; Record Warmth for the Southwest

A large high pressure system will usher in cold air for this first day of March across the northern Plains, Great Lakes, Northeast and mid-Atlantic. Some wintry precipitation may evolve across the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic through Monday. A series of storm systems will impact Northern and Central Nevada this evening through Monday evening, resulting in periods of mountain snow and valley rain. Snow levels will start at around 9,000 feet this evening, before dropping to about 6,500 feet Monday morning. The majority of this precipitation will fall Monday.
