Welcome to Malatai on the Beach, a glamorous eight-bedroom beachfront villa located along the beautiful shores of Mammee Bay in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Just west of Ocho Rios, a tropical lane leads to an electronic gate that opens to reveal one of Jamaica’s most exquisite and spacious private villas. Malatai is perfectly positioned on crystal-clear turquoise waters and offers the ultimate blend of privacy, comfort, and elegance. At the entrance, koi ponds, lily pads, and stately stone lions set the tone for the luxury that lies within.

Inside, the villa is finished with rich Jotoba wood, Italian tiles, Jerusalem stone, marble, and granite. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated. The stunning interior opens out to one of the villa’s most prized features: a 3,300-square-foot stretch of powdery white sand beach just steps from your door.

The villa's free-form swimming pool includes a shallow area for children, separated from the deeper section by an underwater divider. The property also features a private air-conditioned fitness cottage, a hot tub, and a spacious lawn with shaded seating areas. A beautiful teak deck overlooking the sea provides the perfect setting for outdoor dining, barbecues, or sunset cocktails. Guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary use of four single and four double kayaks, along with life vests for both children and adults.

A long privacy fence screens the pool and lawn from the beach. Each morning, the fence can be rolled open to unveil breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The sound of waves meeting the shore creates an atmosphere of pure relaxation, day and night.

From the state-of-the-art kitchen, the villa’s chefs prepare gourmet, home-cooked meals tailored to your preferences. Guests may dine in the formal indoor dining room or enjoy alfresco meals on the open-air veranda. The bar on the veranda is a favorite spot for evening cocktails and appetizers as the sun sets.

For an unforgettable experience, the butler can organize a private torchlit beach party with live mento music and a feast of jerk chicken, pork, tenderloin, seafood, or kabobs grilled fresh by the sea. The staff can also coordinate jet ski rentals, parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing, or a romantic sunset cruise, all departing directly from Malatai’s beach. Spa treatments and private yoga sessions can be arranged on-site.

LOCATION: Ocho Rios, which is located 54 miles north of Kingston, is built around a wide bay with a sweeping arc of hotel lined beach. It is well geared to meet the cruise passengers who are often present. The chief attraction is Island Village which is located at the far west end of Main Street. It is a slick collection of shops, restaurants and bars with a private beach and a great museum called the Reggae Xplosion which is dedicated completely to Reggae – Jamaica’s best know export! The museum even includes a night club where guides demonstrate the latest moves. There are lots of wonderful things to do in and around Ocho Rios including:

SHAW PARK BOTANICAL GARDENS: Located 550 feet above the sea, the gardens have beautiful views of Ocho Rios and are home to many rare plants and trees as well as a very pretty waterfall.

COYABA RIVER GARDEN: Also with wonderful views, Coyaba Garden’s are more compact than Shaw Park with paths threading past ponds and streams. It also has an interesting museum dedicated to local history.

DOLPHIN COVE & DUNN'S RIVER FALLS: Just west of Ocho Rios is probably Jamaica’s most famous attraction – the Dunn’s River Falls. It is a magnificent cascade of multiple tiers pouring over smooth limestone rocks, encircled by interesting ferns and foliage and ending at a beautiful cove with white sands and crystal clear waters. There is also a great reef offshore and therefore it’s well worth bringing some snorkelling gear.
Climbing up the falls is the thing to do. When you enter you can take a guide who will assist you in finding an easy route up. Remember to wear a swimsuit and also gym shoes as you will undoubtedly be drenched by the time you reach the top! Dunn’s Falls is quite touristy and developed (it can get busy when the cruise ships come in) with plenty of car parking and a large craft market at the end but it’s well worth a visit.
Practically opposite Dunn’s River is Dolphin Cove which is a kind of Mini-theme Park which provides the opportunity to swim with dolphins and stingrays. You will also get an opportunity to get up close and personal with macaws, snakes, iguanas and goats.

GREEN GROTTO CAVES: Located 22 miles west of Ocho Rios on the main road between The Runway and Discovery Bay, The Green Grotto is an extensive range of limestone caverns with a subterranean lake and plenty of impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The history of Green Grotto is really interesting as they were originally used by the Amerindians as a place of worship and later as a hideout by Spanish troops.

MYSTIC MOUNTAIN: Located close to Ocho Rios Mystic Mountain is definitely one of the top attractions in Jamaica. There is a really good cable car ride, a zip line, Mystic water slide, infinity-edge pool, bobsled track and a restaurant with a great view of the Bay of Ocho Rios! It’s really well done and great for the adventurous at heart.

BOB MARLEY CENTER & MAUSOLEUM: Located 25 miles south-west of Ocho Rios, high in the St Ann hills amongst a gorgeous landscape of grassy cattle pastures, lies the Bob Marley museum where he was born and spent his early childhood before he moved to Kingston at the age of 13. With a rasta red, gold and green flag flapping in the wind, the compound is centred around the tiny wooden shack where the Marley’s lived. The mausoleum itself is a simple whitewashed building holding Bob Marley’s tomb.
