On our Clinical Dental Technology (CDT) degree, you'll train as a clinical dental technician in state-of-the-art dental labs. You'll have access to cutting-edge technology and specialist equipment, including intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM design, milling and 3D printing systems.

What you'll do
- Your first two years will involve training in our on-site dental laboratory and Dental Clinic.
- Technical and clinical team skills are reinforced in Year 2.
- In year 3 you'll gain experience in our Community Dental Clinic in Preston.

Accreditations
Future careers as a clinical dental technician
On completion of the course, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the General Dental Council and work in dentistry as a dental care professional.
With the specialised technical and clinical skills you acquire, you'll enhance your employment prospects and unlock greater earning potential in the field. You could work as a dental technician (or dental technologist) or a clinical dental technician.
You can also progress into advanced or specialist dental technology. You could specialise in reconstruction sciences such as:
maxillofacial technology
conservation
orthodontics
prosthodontics

We will consider your educational achievements, predicted grades, work experience and personal statement. If you don't meet the grades for your chosen course, we will consider you for other programmes.

Minimum qualifications:
(Test Optional) GPA of at least 3.2 out of 4.0 in the High School Graduation Diploma. (A and B grades in academic college-level classes, such as advanced and honours level classes, or equivalent, and no grades below a C in Junior and Senior year. Only suitable where the course has no named subject / cognate discipline requirement)
OR:
High School Diploma with a weighted CGPA 2.5/4.0
PLUS TWO FROM BELOW (where multiple APs or College Credits are used, they should be for different subjects):
SAT 1070 from ‘Evidence Based Reading and Writing’ and ‘Math’ or ACT 21
1 AP College Board Exam at grade 3 (You can have 2 of these - but different subjects)
College class - 3 credits at grade B from an academic class. Must be shown on college transcript (You can have 2 of these - but different subjects)
Grade 11 or Grade 12 Honors level class/AP classes (without the College Board Exam) grade B x 2 (TWO NEEDED) (where a specific subject is required this option is not accepted)
OR:
High School Diploma/GED with CGPA 3.0 (where a specific subject is required this option is not accepted))
PLUS ONE FROM BELOW:
SAT 1150 from ‘Evidence Based Reading and Writing’ and ‘Math’
ACT Composite Score 23
OR:
Associate diploma / Associate degree / Junior degree holders (general or specialised) with 2.2/4 GPA
Minimum English entry requirements:
Standard English language entry requirements - IELTS 6.0 (with no component score lower than 5.5) or equivalent.
OR:
Grade B/80%/3 GPA High School Grade 11 English
OR:
Grade C/70%/2 GPA High School Grade 12 English
OR:
3 credits English Class(es) at University or Community College Grade C/70% /2 GPA
OR:
AP English Language or Literature grade 3
OR:
SATr Evidence Based Reading and Writing Minimum Score of 500
OR:
ACT English Minimum Score of 26
