July 1st, 2026 Updates

Accept Payments

  • Visa Account Funding Transactions (AFT): Merchants can now send funds directly to eligible Visa cards or accounts via Visa AFT rails, expanding acceptance beyond traditional card purchase transactions and supporting money movement such as remittances, P2P funding, and account-related transactions.
  • New APMs (Twint, Bizum, PayU, Skrill): Merchants using Enterprise Payments (Braintree) orchestration connections (dLocal, EBANX) can now accept Twint (Switzerland), Bizum (Spain), PayU (Netherlands), and Skrill, simplifying cross-border selling by expanding local payment methods into existing workflows.
  • Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale (EFTPOS): Australian merchants can now accept EFTPOS, Australia's domestic debit network, with optimized routing across networks to support improved authorization rates and may help reduce costs for eligible transactions.

Optimize Payments

  • Visa Digital Commerce Authentication Program (DCAP) Support: Support potential interchange savings on ecommerce transactions with additional customer and device data through 3DS Data Only. Learn more.
  • Google Pay Vault Import: Simplify migration to Enterprise Payments (Braintree) by importing existing Google Pay cards and network tokens directly into the Braintree vault, helping retain stored payment methods without requiring customers to re-add their wallets.

Manage Risk

  • Fraud Protection Lite: U.S. Enterprise Payments (Braintree) merchants can now self-enable ML-powered fraud protection directly from the Control Panel – no dev work required. Accept pre-configured filters upon activation, with flexibility to customize rules across ~100 risk attributes. Learn more.
  • Fraud Protection Advanced Custom Lists: Create blocklists, allowlists, and review lists based on a broader set of transaction attributes and custom fields –including card brand, customer ID, order ID, and merchant-specific data points – providing greater flexibility to control transaction decisioning.
  • Chargeback Protection UI-Based Allowlist: Submit a list of trusted buyers to help reduce the likelihood of those transactions being declined by Chargeback Protection risk adjudication, reducing false declines and improving the checkout experience for loyal customers.

Move Money

  • SEPA Instant Payouts: Enterprise Payouts (Hyperwallet) merchants can now send instant payouts to recipients across the EU via SEPA Instant rails, designed to reduce payout delays and support improved cash flow for recipients.
  • Payee Verification for SEPA Payouts (EU): Automatic payee name verification against bank account holder records for SEPA payouts helps merchants verify recipient account details before payment, reducing failed or misdirected payments and improving payout success rates.

March 24th, 2026 Updates

Accept Payments

  • Enterprise In-Person Payments: In-person payments on Verifone terminals are available in Enterprise Payments to eligible U.S. merchants, enabling omnichannel commerce by connecting online and in-store payments on a single platform. Learn more
  • Idempotency: Idempotency is now available in Enterprise Payments SDKs, ensuring retries of the same payment request return the original result and prevent duplicate transactions.
  • Payment Account Reference (PAR): PAR is now available in Enterprise Payments, providing a consistent account identifier across card and wallet transactions to support routing, fraud screening, and customer support.
  • American Express Authorization Adjustment: Authorization adjustments are now supported for American Express transactions in Enterprise Payments, allowing merchants to reduce a previously authorized amount before settlement and align the authorization with the final sale amount. Read the dev doc
  • Swish: Swish, a local real-time bank transfer method in Sweden, is now supported in Enterprise Payments, enabling merchants to accept Swish payments. Read the dev doc

Move Money

  • Real-Time Bank Payouts: Enterprise Payouts now supports real-time payouts to U.S. bank accounts, reducing the traditional 2-3 day bank transfer delay.
  • Direct Debit Return Reason Visibility: Direct debit return reasons are now available via webhooks and the GET API in Enterprise Payouts, enabling clearer visibility into returned debit transactions.
  • Automated Post-Funded FX Settlement: Post-funded payouts with and without FX conversion are now supported in Enterprise Payouts, automating settlement for post-funded disbursement flows.
  • Self-Managed API Credentials: Merchants can now manage their own REST API credentials within the Enterprise Payouts Control Panel, including configuring access permissions and allowed IP addresses. Read the dev doc

Optimize Payments

  • Real-Time Revenue Recovery: Enterprise Payments has partnered with FlexFactor, enabling real-time AI-powered retries to recover revenue from declined transactions. Learn more

Manage Risk

  • Dispute Automation (Visa RDR and CE 3.0): Dispute Automation now supports Visa Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) and Compelling Evidence 3.0 (CE 3.0), enabling earlier dispute handling and stronger fraud evidence using prior transaction data.
  • Event-Based Billing: Fraud Protection now supports event-based (“per inquiry”) billing for eligible U.S. merchants, charging only for transactions evaluated by Fraud Protection, rather than all settled transactions.

Agentic Commerce

  • New Agentic Surfaces: PayPal continues to expand access to agentic commerce for merchants. Merchants can now surface their product catalogs via Microsoft's Copilot Checkout and enable a seamless checkout powered by PayPal without ever leaving the Copilot experience. Learn more
  • Agentic AI Experience For Travel: PayPal is partnering with Sabre and Mindtrip to deliver the industry’s first end-to-end agentic AI travel experience. Travelers will now be able to discover, plan, book, and pay in a single conversational interface. By integrating PayPal’s trusted and flexible payment capabilities like Pay Later into AI-driven travel journeys, merchants can reduce friction, improve conversion, and capture bookings from high-intent travelers. PayPal and dLocal Partnership:

  • Access payment processing, and local and alternative payment methods, in over 40 new emerging markets across Latin America, EMEA, and APAC. Our expanded partnership makes it easy for merchants to connect with local customers and suppliers by accepting domestic cards and payment methods without needing to establish local entities or pay cross-border fees. Optimization Tools:

  • Our smart optimization tools are integrated across the payment lifecycle to help resolve transaction issues in real time and improve processing performance:
  • Network Tokens: Replace sensitive credit card information with secure tokens that are specific to each merchant and transaction, helping to improve payment success rates and reduce fraud risks.
  • Real-Time Account Updater: Automatically refresh stored card information during a transaction to prevent lifecycle declines.
  • Smart Retries: Intelligently retry failed transactions in real time to complete transactions and capture revenue that might otherwise be lost. Learn More

Chargeback Protection:

  • Assess transactions in real time, approving or declining payments based on risk signals to help prevent fraud before it happens. For eligible Fraud or Item Not Received disputes, PayPal will waive dispute fees up to a defined loss cap (a percentage of monthly total payment volume), provided the required evidence is submitted.
