More About Durable

Durable began over 100 years ago when the company was founded by Karl Hunke and Wilhelm Jochheim. Initially, they were manufacturing metal index tabs. By the 1930s they had experienced considerable growth before World War Two broke out and considerably disrupted the sourcing of materials before plunging the world into recession.

Bur Durable got through the war years and the aftermath, and by this point had more than 50 employees. In the 1950s they started making plastic index dividers which were a major breakthrough for the company. In 1959 they launched DURACLIP, a folder that allowed people to file documents without needing to punch holes. For many years, this was Durable's most popular product.

By the 1980s and 1990s, Durable had achieved international recognition and expanded into England, Sweden and the Netherlands. They continued to open new factories and restructured its logistics and distribution. Durable continued to have success into the new millennium as they acquired new sites in Poland and acquired the Finish brand, IDEALPLAST. In 2020, Durable celebrated its 100th anniversary and continues to lead the digitalisation age and the changing world of work.
