Dryden / NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO – April 30, 2026 – Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services reports there are currently no active wildland fires in Ontario’s Northwest Fire Region.
The update was issued at 18:00 CDT. Fire situation reports are now being published twice weekly, with the next update scheduled for Monday, May 4.
Outdoor Fire Rules Now in Effect
Ontario’s legislated fire season runs from April 1 to October 31, meaning outdoor burning rules are in effect across the province.
Residents are encouraged to use alternatives to burning yard waste and woody debris, including composting or taking material to a local landfill.
Anyone who must burn should follow Ontario’s Wildland Fire Management regulations. Fires may be lit no sooner than two hours before sunset and must be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise. Adequate tools and water must be available at the burn site.
Residents inside municipal boundaries should also check with their local fire department for burning restrictions, permits, or local bylaws before lighting any fire.
