Barry season 4 is Hader's pièce de résistance. There's simply nothing like it.

A richer and deeper character study than “Barry” has previously been. ... “Barry,” then, is as juicily tense as it’s ever been. And it sets a new high for itself. ... The question the first six episodes of this fantastic season of television ask is put plainly, but might take the rest of the show to answer.

Probably my favorite show this year. The first 2 seasons are just comedy gold, and starting season 3 it really started to feel more like a drama, which I really liked. I would definitely recommebd this to anyone.

Barry Berkman's descent from conflicted hitman trying to be an actor instead to outright unhinged murder was so **** fun to watch.
Bill Hader is a genius.

This is a show that has never been afraid to make you laugh and then, in the next moment, make you feel deeply uncomfortable. Season 4 is happy to continue this tradition and then some.

Barreling forward without much apparent thought to its own longevity, “Barry” returns without missing a beat, fearlessly racing through story with a mix of darkly comic violence and drop-dead-funny visual gags. Delving deeper into Hollywood’s quirks and its title character’s double life, the crackling third season continues to operate like a high-wire act without a net.

It's alternately funny and horrifying, and manages to make jokes about its criminal elements without being too exploitative or blasé. ... Much of the success of the show rests on Hader, though, and he is fantastic. ... The ensemble is superb as well.

Barry is a bit betwixt and between as a viewing experience: too violent for people who don’t like violence, not energetic or dramatic enough for people who do. (And for people looking for a comedy: Well, it’s as sporadically amusing as any prestige comedy these days.) Over the course of the season, Barry amounts to something, locating a hit man’s shared humanity not in his competence, his guilt, or his remorse, but in his delusional belief that he’s a decent person.

Brilliantly written and acted. Bill Hader is a gem in every sense! The characters are wonderfully flesh and bones, complex, and multidimensional. The last season gets darker but it had no where else to go. I highly recommend.

I refuse to believe they didn't hire paid reviewers for this. The lead actor is obnoxiously unlikeable. I didn't stick around to complain, I just turned it off after the first few shows, and I have no regrets.
If Palm Royale (another terrible show) can be nominated for Emmy awards, I'm sure HBO can manufacture fake hype online and critical acclaim, too. This show flat ****. It's in that rare group of shows where it's so bad you can't watch it because you're embarrassed for the writers, the actors, and directors.

I loved Bill Hader on SNL and in the movies but this is a drama not a comedy show. Not sure why Hollywood keeps pushing all these show as comedy D'UH! they are dramas. I watched around four or five episodes and maybe laugh twice if that. Henry Winkler does a good job as the acting coach. But not being a comedy really turn me off so stop watching.
