On paper, Pixel and Samsung phones might look almost similar. Samsung unusually wins on hardware and features, while Google stands out when it comes to software and AI. When you start using a Pixel phone, you’ll definitely start noticing something different. It can help you do certain things that other Android phones just can’t. No, there aren’t any flashy specs-sheet features. They are the kind of stuff that can help you save time, reduce friction, and make your phone way smarter. Once you start using them, going back to the regular Android experience might feel like a step backwards. Let’s take a look at the seven best Pixel features that Samsung users don’t get, or at least not in the same seamless way.

4 Google Pixel tricks that change how I use my phone

These features help me save time, stay on task, and limit distractions. If you're not using them on your Pixel phone, you're missing out.

Advanced call screening

We are all annoyed with spam calls, right? Pixel phones handle them better than any other Android smartphone. There’s an AI-powered Advanced screen calling feature on Pixel phones where Google Assistant can answer unknown calls on your behalf. It will ask who is calling and why, and even give you a transcription in real time. This forces callers to identify themselves beforehand. You can then decide if you want to speak with them, hang up, or report them.

This feature doesn’t let you block spam, but avoid it entirely. Once you try this feature, you will never want to answer spam calls in the old-fashioned way.

Now Playing

Music detection that just works

Some smartphone features try to impress you, but this one just becomes a part of your daily life. Now Playing is a privacy-focused feature that automatically identifies songs for you and shows the track name right on the lock screen. You don’t need a third-party app or do anything, the feature just works for you in the background.

What makes it even better is that this feature even works offline. The phone uses an on-device database to recognize music. So, whether you’re in a café, outdoors, or somewhere with no signal, your phone will still pick up what’s playing. It also shows a history of identified songs, and you can add a song to your Spotify, YouTube Music, or other playlists.

Hold for Me and Direct My Call

Your phone handles the waiting

At some point, most folks have to deal with customer service or businesses. Interestingly, Pixel phones turn this into background tasks. With Hold for Me, Google Assistant will wait on hold and let you know when a real person talks. For instance, when you call a toll-free number and are put on hold, you’ll see a "Hold for Me" button. When you hit that button, you’ll stop listening to music. Your phone will vibrate/ring when a human representative talks.

On the other hand, when you call a business like banking or customer support, Direct My Call shows an automated menu on the screen immediately, so you can tap options instead of listening and waiting.

Recorder app with built-in transcription

Turn conversations into searchable notes

The Pixel Recorder app is one of those tools you didn’t know you needed until you give it a try. It’s an AI-powered tool that records audio and transcribes it in real-time. This lets you turn your conversations, interviews, lectures, and meetings into searchable text. You can even jump to specific words in the recording or edit the audio by editing its transcription.

That’s not all. You can also pin your favorite recordings for easier access. Everything runs on your device, which ensures speed and privacy. You can also choose to back up and sync your recording to your Google account.

Pixel screenshots app

An easy way to find your screenshots

The Pixel’s screenshot app takes care of every screenshot on your phone. It uses the on-device Gemini Nano to organize your screenshots in a basic gallery app and a user-friendly UI. When you want to search for a specific screenshot, like the invoice of your online order, you can easily search for it using AI rather than scrolling endlessly through your gallery.

If you often take a lot of screenshots like receipts, event tickets, flight details, or products you want to buy, this Pixel feature is a game-changer. It can help you transform your screenshots from a cluttered dump to something that’s organized and genuinely useful.

Qi2 magnetic charging (PixelSnap)

MagSafe-like experience

On newer models like the Pixel 10 Series, Google is embracing a magnetic, Qi2-certified wireless charging technology called PixelSnap. Basically, it is Google’s alternative to the popular Apple MagSafe. This improves the wireless charging speeds (from 15W to 25W) and opens up a new door for magnetic add-ons. Your phone snaps into place on compatible chargers, mounts, and stands. Plus, you can use MagSafe-style accessories like wallets and rings, which makes your phone more versatile.

Honestly, it’s pretty annoying that we haven’t seen magnetic charging support even on flagship Samsung smartphones like the Galaxy S26 series.

Add Me and Best Take

Take better group photos

Pixel phones already offer excellent cameras, and the AI features take things to a whole new level. One such feature is Add Me. It allows you to combine two separate shots into one, so everyone, including the photographer, is there in the final image. This feature uses AI and augmented reality to guide in aligning shots, so everyone is there in the photo.

On the other hand, Best Take combines similar photos into one to make sure everyone looks their best. It even fixes blinks or awkward expressions so you can get the best group photo. Apart from these two, Pixel phones offer other AI-powered tools like Magic Editor, Camera Coach, and Face Unblur.

It’s about little things that add up

When we look at these features individually, they might not seem big enough. But together, they can completely transform your everyday experience. While Samsung offers plenty of tools and customization options, Pixel phones stand out with some amazing exclusives. The best part is that these features are naturally integrated, so you don’t have to dig through settings or install any third-party apps on your device. I feel Pixel doesn’t overwhelm you with features. Rather, it makes everyday interactions smoother, simpler, and a little more intelligent.
