About Tess Ryan
Tess has a degree in Film Production from Emerson College in Boston and a decade of experience in the film, television and podcast industries. Although she has unofficially written pitches and advertisement copy for many years, she officially embraced a writer title in 2022.
As a self-prescribed film nerd, Tess reports on entertainment technology, particularly the constantly evolving streaming industry. It’s her mission to make compelling content accessible to everyone. Tess has been writing for MakeUseOf since 2024. In addition to entertainment, Tess also covers space technology for an independent publication, reporting on everything from additive rocket manufacturing to direct-to-device satellite connectivity.
When she’s not writing or binge-watching the latest Netflix series, Tess is likely stargazing and intentionally unplugging, from her position as a national forest volunteer fire tower lookout.
