Wael Mohamed reposted thisWael Mohamed reposted thisThis week in Seville, Rapid7 was honored to accept the 2026 Péter Szőr Award for our Intelligence team's BPFdoor research – the product of months spent investigating stealthy access inside telecommunications environments. Virus Bulletin established this award to recognize outstanding technical security research: the rigorous, the deep, and the useful. And there are few it means more to than Christiaan Beek, who worked with Péter early in his career. "We're still doing the research," Christiaan writes. "That's how this work goes. Anyone who thinks an initial report is the finish line has never received 'just one more sample' at 4pm on a Friday." Read on: https://lnkd.in/gSN7SJ88

Within hours, we see endless lists of scanning IPs, exploit attempts, and PoCs that don't even work and suddenly, everyone has threat intelligence. But are we tracking actual threats, or just collecting internet noise? Scanning doesn't equal exploitation. And an exploit attempt doesn't mean compromise. IOCs have their place, but without context and understanding attacker behavior, we're just playing whack-a-mole. The priority in this case remains simple: Patch! Network detection signatures are valuable, especially while patching, but they don't fix the vulnerability. So here's my question: Have we become too obsessed with sharing indicators instead of sharing intelligence? Curious how others see this. #ThreatIntelligence #CyberSecurity #VulnerabilityManagementWael Mohamed liked this🚨 On October 21, 2026, the #PHP project announced security releases for 2 critical vulnerabilities: CVE-2026-109618 can corrupt memory during out-of-memory (OOM) handling, while CVE-2026-109619 is a use-after-free flaw involving state retained between requests. Due to the extremely high deployment of PHP based web applications, exploitation in-the-wild is expected. More in our blog: https://lnkd.in/gQvhGUqG

You may wonder – why doesn’t the Fed aim for zero inflation? Very low inflation runs the risk of slipping into deflation – where prices fall -- which is usually a symptom of a weak economy and can mean new challenges for businesses and consumers. If our objective stays low and stable – at 2 percent -- there’s room for monetary policy to stimulate the economy if conditions deteriorate. The 2 percent objective isn’t an arbitrary number. It’s a foundation for businesses, consumers, and investors – because if people know where inflation is supposed to go, they can make better financial decisions and plan for the future. Planning has been more difficult over the last five years since we’ve been missing our inflation objective. I am committed to getting us back there. These videos are a chance for me to explain Fed and economic topics and answer your questions. Be sure to let us know what Fed topics we should cover next in the comments below. ⬇️ And check out the topics we’ve already covered in our Ask Beth series: https://clefed.org/4h03qAD

The window between a vulnerability being disclosed and actively exploited has compressed from weeks to hours. 🛡 This Ropes & Gray Viewpoints article walks through what that means for legal and compliance functions, covering NIS 2 notification timelines, SEC examination priorities, and the CISA reporting rule expected in September 2026. The cybersecurity regulatory landscape is shifting dramatically. New regulations like NIS2, DORA, and updated SEC rules are placing unprecedented accountability on senior leadership for cybersecurity performance. Key changes ahead: • Board-level accountability for cyber risk management • Incident reporting requirements as tight as 24 hours • Personal liability for executives overseeing non-compliant programs • Multi-million dollar fines for regulatory breaches Here's what successful CISOs are doing differently: They're moving beyond traditional IT-focused approaches to build cross-functional partnerships with GRC teams, legal, and executive leadership. The most effective programs treat compliance not as a checkbox exercise, but as an opportunity to demonstrate strategic value and secure board-level support. The challenge isn't just technical—it's organizational. When regulations require "management bodies to approve cybersecurity risk management measures," CISOs need to translate technical risk into business language that resonates at the C-suite level. This regulatory shift creates an opportunity for security leaders to elevate their role from operational to strategic. Those who can bridge the gap between compliance requirements and business objectives will find themselves with stronger budgets, better resources, and clearer executive support. The question isn't whether these regulations will impact your organization—it's whether your security program is positioned to turn compliance into competitive advantage. How is your organization preparing for the new era of cybersecurity accountability? #Cybersecurity #vCISO #RiskManagement #Compliance #SecurityLeadership #NIS2 #DORA #CyberGovernance

Worth a look if you're using Claude at work: Anthropic's new Compliance API now plugs into 100+ security and compliance tools, including several of our partners (Okta, Proofpoint, CrowdStrike, KnowBe4, Palo Alto Networks, Mimecast, Cato Networks, Island, Datadog, Cyera, and more). It's a good sign of where AI governance is headed: visibility into AI usage is becoming a standard part of the security stack, not an afterthought. Worth checking whether your team has this turned on.
