Puerto Rico offers significant tax incentives for those who properly establish bona fide residency. To qualify, you must meet residency requirements including spending at least 183 days on the island and establishing a primary tax home there. When structured correctly, eligible individuals may benefit from 0 percent capital gains and a 4 percent tax rate on Puerto Rico sourced income. However, income generated outside Puerto Rico generally does not qualify for the 4 percent rate. This strategy works best for business owners with location independent income who can legitimately relocate their operations. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This is not tax advice.
