Erika Winterholler shared thisHere's another great IP story that I have been lucky enough to be a part of! Eight years after launching in 2018, Star Trek Fleet Command is still going strong and continues to be one of the standout success stories in licensed mobile games. It's such a great example of what can happen when the right IP, the right development partner, and a shared commitment to the fans all come together. As someone who works in licensing on the IP side of the partnership, the IP holder plays such an important role in bringing these experiences to life — not just by providing access to an iconic brand, but by being an active partner in helping the game grow, evolve, and stay authentic to what fans love. Building a successful game is one thing. Keeping it relevant and engaging eight years later is something else entirely. Huge congratulations to the teams at DIGIT, a Scopely Studio, Scopely, and the Star Trek Franchise Team at Paramount Games. A great example of a licensing partnership done right!Erika Winterholler shared thisSkydance, the new firm created by that Paramount-Warner Bros. Erika Winterholler shared thisI really love this one. There’s something special about a game that just feels like the perfect fit. PikPok knows horse games and the people who love them incredibly well, and bringing that passion together with Barbie has created something that feels genuinely authentic and fun. Barbie: Horse Ride & Rescue is exactly the kind of experience I love seeing come to life — made by people who really understand the space and care about getting it right for fans. So proud of everyone at PikPok and Mattel, Inc. who poured so much into this, and very cool to see Apple sharing the story behind it. https://lnkd.in/gz9wXsuD

Erika Winterholler shared thisWhat a week! Seeing Mattel exhibiting at gamescom for the very first time was one of those moments that makes you stop and appreciate how far we've come. For decades, Mattel has created some of the world's most iconic brands. Today, we're making it clear that we're equally committed to building their future in interactive entertainment. Having our own booth at the world's largest gaming event wasn't just about having a presence—it was a statement about where we're headed and the role video games will continue to play in Mattel's future. None of this would have been possible without an incredible team. A special thank you to Roberta Suriano, Evelyn Icarro, Eric W., Jeanie Grazis, Jackson Zobrist and Nate Dykstra, and everyone across the Mattel Digital Games team who poured countless hours into planning, coordinating, building, and bringing this vision to life. What attendees experienced this week was the result of months of hard work behind the scenes, and I couldn't be prouder of what we accomplished together. To everyone who stopped by the booth—our partners, developers, publishers, creators, and friends—thank you for the conversations, the enthusiasm, and the excitement about what's next. The energy throughout the week was incredible, and it reinforced just how much opportunity lies ahead. Here's to many more gamescoms, even bigger ambitions, and continuing to build unforgettable gaming experiences with some of the world's most beloved brands. #gamescom #Mattel #Gaming #InteractiveEntertainment #VideoGames #Partnerships #Licensing

I only met him a couple of times, but one couldn’t help but feel the presence of nobility when with him. God rest Sir Patrick’s beautiful soul. #RIP #PatrickStewart

I was lucky enough to meet and get to know Sir Patrick Stewart a bit and watch him at work during my Star Trek days at CBS Studios. Some people are simply larger than life. The world feels a little smaller today.

Erika Winterholler reacted on thisErika Winterholler reacted on thisGoing to bed so sad tonight having learned of Patrick Stewart passing. Such an incredible actor and human being. I had the great joy to spend a couple of days working with him in the studio in London on our War of the Worlds game which he narrated end to end. This was a once in a lifetime career highpoint. The script was written by the (now late) Christopher Fowler. The two of them spent joyful hours playfully arguing over the history of Hyde park and it's geography. Patrick did this job for us for a pathetically small budget because he so loved the book and used to act it out as a child at home. God damn that was an amazing week. It was when the iPad had just launched and he used mine to check something online and he was delighted as he hadn't used one yet!) He was kind, humble, his own worst critic of a flawless performance that I couldn't stop grinning throughout. The world is a sadder place with him gone.

Erika Winterholler reacted on thisErika Winterholler reacted on thisI was lucky enough to get to work with this man 11 years ago. He played Leonardo Da Vinci in our StoryToys app Leonardo’s Cat. I was inexperienced and terrified that I had to tell ‘The Captain’ what to do. He sensed my fear, and reminded me that I was the director, and if he was to perform, he needed my direction. He offered that I do line reads and asked that I tell him exactly what to do. He gave me permission to direct. It completely changed the dynamic. Suddenly I was not only telling him what to do, but having the best time doing it. It gave me a confidence that I got so much from. He showed how someone with status and power could use it to give somebody else confidence. I genuinely believed we’d work together again. And I’m sorry we won’t.

Erika Winterholler reacted on thisErika Winterholler reacted on thisSir Patrick Stewart passed away on Oct 28th. He was a very important person to me. He was an actor, but also a really great human. His portrayal of Jean-Luc Picard was essential to my upbringing as he embodied what a person of integrity looked like to me along with the crew of TNG's Enterprise. I had trouble sleeping as a kid and would watch reruns of TNG all night. I had this absolutely ridiculous shirt made at a theme park and flew to London to take a picture with him. I was awestruck, and when he saw me in the t-shirt he def was like wtf, but handled the situation with his great dignity. I then had 2 dream moments in my career when I got to direct him in voice acting sessions for games I worked on... You don't really "direct" the man as much as give him context. Getting him to do a "Giggity-Giggity" for the Family Guy mobile game was amazing. I asked him if he remembered me from the Star Trek convention with the shirt and he said no, but then I showed him the shirt and he said smiling, "I can see why I may have blocked it from my memory." Thank you for all of your amazing contributions to theater, art, entertainment and life Sir Pat.

Erika Winterholler liked thisErika Winterholler liked thisNever thought I’d type this sentence: I have a Ken doll. 🏂 Honored to be named the third Barbie Signature Kenbassador, alongside LeBron James and Lenny Kravitz, as Mattel celebrates Ken’s 65th anniversary. When Mattel, Inc. called, I didn’t want to just sign off on a design. I wanted to build it with them. We matched the red hair, and I picked gear people have actually seen me ride in: a WHITESPACE kit and board, plus a The Snow League jersey. Getting it right at this scale was harder than it sounds. That’s how I approach everything now, from WHITESPACE to The Snow League. If my name is on it, I’m in it. The best part is thinking about the kid who opens this box. I was the red-haired kid who didn’t fit the mold, and a few toys helped spark what I fell in love with. If this doll does that for someone else, that’s the real win. Thank you to Mattel and the Barbie team for this great honor. Available now at major retailers. #Barbie #Kenbassador #WHITESPACE #TheSnowLeague #Entrepreneurship https://lnkd.in/gddJ5fSpShaun White Is Barbie’s Third Kenbassador: ‘It Was a No-Brainer For Me’Shaun White Is Barbie’s Third Kenbassador: ‘It Was a No-Brainer For Me’
