David A. shared this🧮 Check Out My Warsaw Qiskit Fall Fest 2026 hackathon entry - Thank you AI Quantumtech! 👀🌌 For Track 1 (Quantum Optimization), I built "Partition, Benchmarked": the classic number-partitioning problem written as a QUBO — an Ising cost Hamiltonian — and attacked with QAOA. 🖥️ My hackathon submission that used ~1 minute of Quantum Compute: ✅ 🔹 Built the classical baselines first — exact solver, greedy, and simulated annealing — across problem sizes from n=6 to n=160. Simulated annealing matched the exact optimum at every size. That's the bar any quantum result has to answer to. 🤖 🔹 Ran the quantum side on real hardware — ibm_fez, a 156-qubit IBM Quantum Heron r2 processor. The perfect partition was sampled on the QPU itself. 🎩🦩 🔹 Scaled to n=160 using Pauli Correlation Encoding and compared four error-mitigation strategies head-to-head. TREX won on ibm_fez (decoded difference 351 vs. 1,365 with no mitigation). ⚛️ 🔹 The honest result: even the best mitigated quantum run finished far from the classical optimum of 1. No quantum advantage claimed — and one surprise: the lab's reference run on ibm_pittsburgh ranked PEC first, while fez ranked TREX first. Which mitigation wins appears to be device- and run-dependent. 🎲🎲 Biggest lesson: benchmarking quantum optimization means publishing the numbers that don't flatter the quantum side, too. ADOPTED💜 Owner surrendered 💔 Chance is a gorgeous mal boy looking for a breed experienced home! He is observant and loyal, though a tad nervous in the shelter environment. He has remained kind and sweet despite his circumstances. Surprisingly, Chance has not been super mouthy or gator-y and seems to have a great temperament! Sadly, Chance was owner surrendered due to a bite in the home. Per the bite report, Chance but someone who was a renting a room from Chance’s owner. When they all three went out to the yard, Chance bit victim on back of the knee. After being pulled off by his owner, Chance broke free and went back and bit victim on the hip. The owner no longer feels safe around Chance and surrendered him to the shelter 💔 We have not seen aggression or concerning behavior here, and we do not know the trigger for Chance in that specific scenario. 🐶 Right now, Chance can coexist with other dogs. We did notice his hackles raised when he entered the yard, but he seems to keep his cool and would probably benefit from slow introductions as well. He is not looking for conflict. He likes to do his own thing. He did growl at male husky Bluey for space, but Bluey is also a very in your face type of dog. I joined Al Jazeera English’s Inside Story to examine the fallout from the Binance exploit and what it means for digital asset security and financial stability. A few core takeaways from our discussion: 1. Vertical Integration Creates Systemic Honeypots: In traditional securities markets, exchange, broker-dealer, and custodial functions are segregated by law. If a retail broker like Schwab or Robinhood suffers a cyber incident, the NYSE or Nasdaq does not freeze. In crypto, exchanges bundle trading, clearing, and custody under one roof. When a single developer's device is compromised, the entire exchange and its order book halt. 2. Regulation Isn't a Panacea, But Firewalls Are Essential: Merely stamping "regulated" on an exchange offers false comfort if the underlying market structure remains flawed. 18 years to the day after the Bitcoin white paper was published, multi-billion-dollar heists continue to directly fund rogue state weapons programs. As long as these vulnerabilities persist, the priority for regulators must be insulating the traditional banking and financial system from contagion. 3. Emerging Tech Will Intensify the Pressure: The speed of this attack points to the growing role of AI in supercharging vulnerability exploitation. Looking further ahead, the transition toward quantum computing will test whether decentralized networks can coordinate fast enough to overhaul core cryptographic foundations. Last Saturday, my youngest son, who was just 19 years old, was killed in a tragic accident. Yesterday, we said our final goodbye. Our family is heartbroken, and we are taking time to grieve this unimaginable loss. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding. We will do our best to resume sharing high-risk dogs and cats next week, as we are able. In the meantime, please continue sharing and advocating for the animals who urgently need loving homes.

That's what we're seeing with Surogate, the open-source C++/CUDA toolkit we build at Invergent for both training and serving: LoRA/QLoRA, GRPO/DPO, distillation, and GGUF/NVFP4/FP8 serving behind an HTTP API. Single-user speed is only half the story, so we also measured under load. At 100 concurrent users, median time to first token was 40ms with Surogate vs 230ms with vLLM.
