This a seductive idea; that organization's context fragments, decision logic gets lost, and an organization is prone to tackle collective amnesia. BUT this comes with a lot of caveats!! - MONOCULTURE: When one system becomes the authoritative interpreter of "why things are the way they are", it will collapse pluralism. An organization actually benefits from various "contested memories". An engineer and sales guy remember different things from a discussion and that helps. Employees can stop arguing with the system not because its correct but its "coherent". - OBSERVER's EFFECT: When people know that the reasoning within systems is being captured, they will change what gets recorded. The negotiations will become "safer" and will contaminate raw signals. - CENTRALIZATION: Interpretation gets centralized upwards. It may appear leadership or executives are gaining synthesis and becoming closer to the ground. But there is no comparison to living through the frictions, not even eclectic summaries. LEADERSHIP MUSCLE NEEDS TO PRACTICE LIVING THROUGH FRICTION OTHERWISE IT WILL TURN SENILE. - BIAS AMPLIFICATION: Model's inbuilt biases can combine with company's cultural quirks resulting in misinterpretations and distortions, worse they get reinforced over time. System will learn how the company thinks and then will optimize for continuity. AMNESIA IS SOMETIME A FEATURE. - SEMANTIC TRUTHS: Unlike objective truths this system will play on subjectivity and will build "causal" relationships that are based on semantics. This over time can form mythical decision norms with no external validity. The real question isn't "CAN IT BE BUILT?". Of course it can be. But "HOW IT SHOULD BE POSITIONSED". #llms #leadership #ai

Much of the money and time in healthcare happens past the point of diagnosis. The money: $200B of spend on specialty drugs. The time: putting patients on therapies requires clinical judgment, and navigating a labyrinth of paperwork and people. The result is a byzantine status quo where patients get life saving therapies denied or delayed, and hospital systems capture only $80B of the $200B of drug spend that they originate. A few interesting data points: • SAFEs still dominate Seed rounds – but excessive stacking can complicate future raises and dilute founders more than expected. • Founder ownership drops quickly – nationally, median ownership slips from 56% post-seed to 23% by Series B, but Southeastern founders often retain closer to 65% post-seed thanks to lower operating costs. • AI premium is real – startups with AI capabilities are commanding higher valuations but also facing steeper dilution. • Team composition matters – solo founders make up 35% of new companies but only 17% secure venture funding. Equal equity splits between co-founders are increasingly the norm. • Option pools & vesting – 10–15% option pools at Seed/Series A are standard, but Southeastern startups may need slightly larger pools to attract talent; some later-stage firms are moving to 5–6 year vesting schedules to retain key people. Today Stripe is announcing the acquisition of our portfolio company Privy. We originally partnered with 🏕️ Henri Stern and Asta L. in the Seed Round (co-lead with Sequoia Capital in 2021, and have invested in every round since then (joining Paradigm and Ribbit Capital as they led later rounds). Henri’s reputation as a crisp intellectual and rigorous executor from his days at Protocol Labs made us pay attention when we heard he was going to build a new company, and meeting his co-founder Asta gave us the conviction that this was going to be an n of 1 team for the mission. Supporting 75 million accounts, over 1,000 developer teams and billions of transactions - Privy is a key enabling fabric for a plethora of crypto rails-based applications. We are ecstatic for the team, and have been in awe of their execution quality, drive and tenacity that powered them through the inevitable dark hours that arise on any entrepreneurial journey. #AmTech Weekly Roundup: Ambience Healthcare raised $243 million in Series C funding from Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz, OpenAI, Kleiner Perkins, Optum Ventures, and Town Hall Ventures. Ambience is building AI documentation software to record patient appointments, generate comprehensive medical notes, and standardize coding/authorization workflows.   Michael Ng, Nikhil Buduma    Reveal Technology raised $30 million in Series B funding from Ballistic Ventures, Shield Capital, Booz Allen Hamilton, and others. Reveal’s two main offerings are 3D mappings generated from drone videos and mobile biometrics. They are deployed with the US Army, Special Operations Command, Marine Corps, and other NATO forces.   Garrett Smith    Prophet Security raised $30 million in Series A funding from Accel and Bain Capital Ventures. I’ve spoken to over 2 dozen MDs at PE firms I can confidently say that the arb of figuring out how to implement Vertical AI at portfolio companies is very real right now It will fundamentally change underwriting for those who can do it predictably and unlock generational returns. Most are aware they need to act. Very few have.
