During the maintenance work, all e-mails will be delivered and received as usual and can be accessed through your desktop e-mail software or your mobile device via POP3 or IMAP.

We will complete the maintenance as quickly as possible in order to minimise the downtime. All systems will be available as usual once the maintenance is complete.

Scheduled - The server update announced by email for 20 July 2026 is being postponed to ensure a smooth process. The new maintenance window is from 4 to 24 August 2026.

This will provide you with better resource utilisation, higher system security, and the use of current protocols (TLS 1.3). If you use a website based on HTML/JavaScript/CSS or PHP (including CMS like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal), your website will continue to work without any changes. Custom scripts and applications in Python (update to 3.13), Ruby (update to 3.3), or Perl (update to 5.40.1) must be checked for compatibility beforehand. During the transition, there will be a brief interruption of availability lasting approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Monitoring - On July 17, the "wp2shell" security vulnerability became known in the popular CMS WordPress. This vulnerability potentially allows attackers to inject malicious code into affected web spaces.

WordPress versions 6.8 and newer are affected. The WordPress team has released new packages—versions 6.8.6, 6.9.5, 7.0.2, and 7.1 beta 2—in which the security vulnerability has been fixed.

Customers using Managed WordPress from IONOS do not need to take any action. We are applying the necessary patches automatically.
We strongly recommend that all users running a self-hosted WordPress on their web space update their installation to a current version.
