    Hall County Probate Court will never text you regarding your Georgia Weapons Carry License. We will email you to let you know it is time to renew, but we will always reference your “Georgia Weapons Carry License.” There is currently a nationwide scam text/email campaign urging you to get your “concealed carry permit.” These did not originate from Hall County Probate Court. Always be cautious clicking links in messages.

  2. Hall County Probate Court E-Filing

    As of January 1, 2024, Hall County Probate Court accepts e-filing through TrueFiling. We are happy to allow filing from the convenience of home/office at any time.

    To file documents electronically, users must create an account in the TrueFiling website:

    Be aware that an e-filing fee will be charged by TrueFiling for the convenience of filing electronically at the rate of $14.00 per petition or response. A convenience fee of 3.25% will also be charged by the credit card processing company. All statutory fees collected by Hall County will remain unchanged.

    You may view the online docket for many public records online at https://www.georgiaprobaterecords.com. Most Hall County estate cases filed after 2010 are available here.

Office Location

Hall County Probate Court is located in Hall County Courthouse Annex, 116 Spring Street, SE, Gainesville, Georgia. We are adjacent to the main courthouse and the courthouse parking deck which is located at 225 Green Street, SE, Gainesville, Georgia. Parking is free.

Office Hours

Hall County Probate Court is open 8:30am- 4:30pm Monday – Friday, except for Hall County holidays when the Courthouse Annex is closed.

Duties, Responsibilities, & Jurisdiction

Hall County Probate Court issues marriage licenses and weapons carry licenses as well as handles estates when a person dies or guardianship/conservatorship for minors or incapacitated adults. Probate Court also has exclusive jurisdiction over commitments to involuntary evaluation and treatment for people with mental health, drug, or alcohol issues.

Hall County Probate Court is an expanded jurisdiction court under Article 6, Title 15, Chapter 9 of the Official Code of Georgia.

Marriage Licenses

No appointment is necessary to receive a Marriage License, but both parties to the marriage must be at least 18 years of age and appear together at Hall County Probate Court with a government issued photo identification showing their date of birth, proof of dissolution of any prior marriage, and the appropriate fee.

Georgia Weapons Carry License

No appointment is necessary to receive a Georgia Weapons Carry License or renew an expiring Georgia Weapons Carry License, but all applicants must be Hall County residents, at least 21 years old and appear at Hall County Probate Court with appropriate documents and fees.

Guardianships/Conservatorships

A guardianship or conservatorship is a legal relationship wherein the Probate Court Judge appoints a person to make decisions for another person proven to need assistance.

Estates

An estate may be the probate of a will or the administration of an intestate estate.
