Michael Barry is a trial attorney with Axelrod and Associates. He is a dedicated criminal defense attorney who has been practicing law in South Carolina since 2019. He focuses exclusively on criminal defense and has represented clients in a wide range of cases, including DUI, domestic violence, drug offenses, property crimes, white collar crimes, and both misdemeanors and serious felony charges.
Michael is a member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA), a national organization committed to the advancement of DUI defense through education and collaboration among practitioners. His membership reflects his ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of criminal defense practice.
Michael received his Juris Doctor and Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law from Louisiana State University in 2017 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2019. Before going to law school, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
During his time at Louisiana State University, Michael interned with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Civil Division. Prior to law school, Michael was a Combat Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He conducted two combat deployments to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom with the 2D Combat Engineer Battalion of the 2D Marine Division. Michael was also a project manager for route clearance systems at Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia. Before joining the USMC, Michael was a police officer with the Charleston City Police Department and served in Team One in the downtown area.
Michael is married to Brittany Barry. They have two boys, Detree and Altman. When not in the office, Michael enjoys taking advantage of the superb fishing in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas.
