Batik Air and Tourism Malaysia Strengthen Efforts for Visit Malaysia 2026
KUALA LUMPUR, 29 January 2026 – Batik Air recently reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Malaysia as a premier travel destination with the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Tourism Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in support of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
The MoC signing ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, was witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and officiated by Tourism Malaysia Director General, Tuan Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, together with Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy. The collaboration reflects a shared vision to elevate Malaysia’s tourism profile through stronger connectivity, strategic marketing initiatives and meaningful industry partnerships.

Through this collaboration, Batik Air will work closely with Tourism Malaysia to support a series of promotional initiatives, including trade seminars, familiarisation trips and media engagements across key international markets. These efforts aim to provide travel trade partners, media representatives and key opinion leaders with first-hand exposure to Malaysia’s diverse attractions, rich culture and renowned hospitality.
As part of the collaboration, Batik Air will also feature VM2026-themed onboard merchandise, including the campaign mascots Wira and Manja, to enhance passenger engagement and further promote Malaysia’s tourism appeal across its network.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Ramamurthy, said the partnership reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to supporting national tourism objectives through meaningful collaboration.
“This collaboration goes beyond a strategic alignment. It represents a shared responsibility between industry players to collectively strengthen Malaysia’s position as a preferred global destination. Batik Air is proud to play an active role in supporting Visit Malaysia 2026 by leveraging our expanding network, strong market presence and close engagement with trade partners to stimulate sustainable travel demand into the country.
“Through a number of coordinated initiatives, we aim to amplify awareness of Malaysia’s diverse offerings while creating greater value for our partners and delivering enriched travel experiences for our passengers,” he added.
The MoC builds on a series of successful joint initiatives carried out in 2025 across key markets including Indonesia, India, South Korea, Japan and Dubai. Looking ahead, both parties will roll out expanded campaigns and activations throughout 2026 to further strengthen Malaysia’s tourism appeal and global presence.
The occasion was further commemorated with the Batik Air Above & Beyond Trade Partner Appreciation Night, a dedicated evening celebrating the airline’s valued trade partners and industry stakeholders who have played a pivotal role in supporting tourism growth. The gala served as a fitting conclusion to the milestone event, underscoring Batik Air’s appreciation for its partners while setting the tone for even stronger collaboration in the journey towards Visit Malaysia 2026 and beyond.
