The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by two GP practices in the north to be outstanding for a second time, following inspections in May.
Stockwell Road Surgery in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, is a teaching and training practice for medical students and GPs. It delivers services to around 8766 people.
Barlow Medical Centre in Didsbury, Manchester, is a GP practice which delivers services to approximately 16,118 people.
CQC carried out these inspections as part of its continual checks on the safety and quality of health and social care services.
Inspectors found these practices were providing exemplary care to people when they visited, which is reflected in their outstanding rating.
Linda Hirst, CQC deputy director of primary care and community services in the north, said:
“Everyone who uses health and social care services deserves to receive compassionate high-quality person-centred care that meets their needs.
“These GP practices were found to be providing high standards of care and support and are examples of what outstanding care looks like.
“The hard work of the staff at these services is making a real difference to people’s lives and this is why we have re-rated these services as outstanding. Other GP practices should look at these reports to see if there’s anything they can learn from.”
