I spent three days at the Blue Ruby in Elizabeth City. I just loved it!!! I didn't want to leave. (Owner Patrick says he hears that a lot.) I was in Suite 1: super clean, lovely and comfortable, and very roomy. Patrick and his dog Lacy made me feel right at home. I enjoyed the breakfasts (I could order what I wanted the night before and it would be ready when I specified), the coffee station (also tea and hot chocolate) in the dining room available 24 hours a day. There is a refrigerator, wine cooler stocked with water, and a wet bar. The location is convenient to shopping, walking, and the waterfront. And I enjoyed the idea that I was staying in a home originally built in the 1700s. Wow.

Everything was excellent about my weekend stay at Blue Ruby. Patrick was so nice and the house and my personal room was in perfect condition. The decor and sitting room was all new. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate. My room was larger and nicer than I expected. The breakfast was cooked to order and everything was available from the menu. Patrick is a good cook too. Lacey was a nice assistant. I will be back again. Probably the best B&B in town.

Just enjoyed our second trip to Blue Ruby Grice-Fearing House Bed and Breakfast. We highly recommend staying here for relaxation, quiet and calm. It was just what we needed. Thank you so much Patrick and of course Lacy, Patrick’s sweet Pup! This was a birthday trip for my husband to enjoy time with his brother and sister, niece and her family. At the last minute we threw a curve ball and asked Patrick to also cook lunch for us so we could just be together with family! We stayed in the first floor suite and also utilized the dining room between meals for the guys to have some computer time while the ladies relaxed in the suite’s living room. Our breakfasts were so good! The lunch was wonderful and he even surprised us with his Mom’s homemade blueberry cake! We have stayed twice now and plan on scheduling more Visits! Highly recommend!
