An accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence following her conviction in June 2022 for the crimes of sex trafficking and the enticement of minors between 1994 and 2004.

Where is Ghislaine Maxwell today?

Immediately after her arrest in July 2020, Maxwell was incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. She was then transferred, after her conviction, to a Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida. Finally, in August 2025, Maxwell was moved again, to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas.

Maxwell shares details of her detention in emails

In an email sent to an unnamed relative last fall, Maxwell described the conditions of the minimum-security facility in Texas where she’s currently being held. “I am much happier here,” she wrote. “The food is legions better, the place is clean, the staff responsive and polite. I haven’t seen or heard the usual foul language or screaming accompanied by threats levelled at inmates by anyone,” NBC News reported in November 2025.

Maxwell’s New Hampshire house, her last hideout before her arrest

Before her arrest, Maxwell had retreated to her home in Bradford, New Hampshire, set on 60 hectares of pine and oak forest. Maxwell purchased the home in 2019 for $1 million—most of that sum reportedly paid in cash. The property includes a main house and a large guest house in an isolated, rural setting. With an area of 4,300 square feet, the house has a living room with a stone fireplace, two bedrooms, a very spacious kitchen, a veranda with a wood-burning stove and a dining room. It was put up for sale in July 2025 for $2.5 million. However, after failing to find a buyer, the price was reduced after just three months on the market. Now listed at $2.37 million, it’s still struggling to find anyone interested in purchasing it. Cara Ameer, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker, told Realtor.com that, “There may be people who feel morally opposed to having anything to do with this property because of Maxwell’s prior actions, particularly as this home was used as a hiding place before she was arrested. The negative publicity surrounding this property is going to be difficult to overcome, no matter what.”

Maxwell’s Upper East Side mansion

In the 2000s, Maxwell lived in a townhouse on East 65th Street on New York City’s Upper East Side. The 7,000-square-foot home is just a few blocks away from Jeffrey Epstein’s former home at 9 East 71st Street. Maxwell hosted many social gatherings here attended by members of New York’s high society before selling it in 2016 to real estate mogul Frederick Rudd for $15 million.

On the market again

The property was put back on the market in September 2025 following Rudd’s death. The new asking price is $17.75 million and the real estate listing describes the five-story house as a particularly luxurious property, a “Beaux-Arts style townhouse dating from 1910.” Built of brick and limestone, the townhouse has reportedly been completely renovated since the Maxwell era, and now features high ceilings, two fireplaces, white oak flooring and more. A few photos taken by photographer Patrick McMullan during a party in March 2007 provide rarely seen glimpses of interior including works of art, such as somewhat disturbing Asian-inspired mask hanging on a red lacquered wall.
