to Your French Wedding Journey
It’s a beautiful, historic venue near Paris with a grand yet intimate feel, and it worked perfectly for our ~80 guests. The flow between indoor and outdoor spaces is great, and the venue is very adaptable in case of rain or heat (we had our cocktail outside and dinner/party inside). I’d definitely recommend making full use of all the spaces. The gardens are elegantly manicured, while the interiors have quintessential French charm—an elegant color palette, original wooden floors, moldings, marble fireplaces, large mirrors and windows, and beautiful paintings. We held our ceremony at the nearby village Catholic church (which welcomes non-residents), but it can just as easily be organized in the château gardens or indoors.
A few things to pay attention to: as there’s no on-site accommodation (aside from a cottage), our guests stayed in the nearby town of Chantilly, which offers great hotel options and easy access from Paris and Orly Airport. For couples considering an outdoor dinner, note that evenings can get windy and chilly, even in summer. Also, outdoor dining may require additional catering setup, as the kitchen is in the basement. The venue has a list of preferred vendors and offers a slight discount if you choose one of their caterers, though you’re free to work with any vendors. There’s also no corkage fee.Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The venue is stunning, the team was lovely and responsive, and coordination with our wedding planner was smooth throughout.
Château de Champlâtreux
We provided transportation to and from the venue for our guests and though it was an added expense we opted for a glasshouse built on property. This may not be needed for smaller guest counts as the property is absolutely stunning! We utilized as much of the property as we could and the surprise pool reveal was such a highlight as well. Brides need to decide if they want to have the ceremony and reception in the front of the property or back but there are no wrong answers.
