Tom Hanks says he's made only four 'pretty good' movies
Hollywood star Tom Hanks has acted in nearly 100 movies but thinks only four of them are “pretty good”.

“No one knows how a movie is made — though everyone thinks they do,” Hanks said in a new interview with ‘People’, reports ‘Variety’.

“I’ve made a tonne of movies, and I’m still amazed at how films come together. From a flicker of an idea to the flickering image onscreen, the whole process is a miracle.”

Hanks has led some of cinema’s most celebrated films over his four-decade career, including ‘Forest Gump’ and ‘Philadelphia’, both of which earned him the Academy Award for best actor.

Hanks was also Oscar-nominated for ‘Cast Away’, ‘Big’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and 2020’s ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’.

But it’s unclear which titles in Hanks’ filmography he considers to be the best.

“Movie-making is very hard work over a very long period of

Tom Hanks thinks a few of the 80 films he’s made throughout his long-standing career are “pretty good”
Many would attest that Tom Hanks is one of the greatest actors in American history. He’s starred in Hollywood blockbusters like Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Saving Private Ryan, Pixar’s Toy Story franchise, and many more. With decades of experience in front of cameras, Hanks is often one of the harshest critics of his work. While Hanks enjoys the thrill of working alongside the best filmmakers and actors in the business, not every project ranks among his favorites.

Speaking with People, Hanks says four of the 80 films he’s contributed to are “pretty good.” Only four? Tom, surely you jest! Can you explain this bizarre stance? “No one knows how a movie is made — though everyone thinks they do,” Hanks remarked. “I’ve made a ton of movies and I’m still amazed at how films come together.”

Pinocchio (2022) vs. Pinocchio (1940): What are the Differences?

Pinocchio (2022) vs. Pinocchio (1940): What are the Differences?
When you wish upon a star, it doesn’t matter how original you are. That’s certainly Disney’s hope at the beginning of the new, Robert Zemeckis-directed Pinocchio. The film marks the latest “live-action” remake of a classic from the Walt Disney Animation Studios catalog. And in this case, it’s pulling from one of the oldest.

Walt Disney’s original Pinocchio was only the second feature-length film made by his animation house after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from three years earlier. Pinocchio is also where the Walt Disney Company got its unofficial theme song, “When You Wish Upon a Star.” To this day, you usually hear an orchestral version of the tune every time you see a new Disney movie that gets the banner logo title card at the beginning. But in the case of Zemeckis’ Pinocchio, the traditional fanfare is interrupted when a digitally

Movie Review: Pinocchio

Movie Review: Pinocchio
The latest in Disney’s interminable run of remakes, Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio is not a reimagining of the classic Carlo Collodi story or animated classic so much as a slick bit of content to pad out Disney’s streaming service. Pinocchio the puppet may have no strings, but Pinocchio the movie has no soul.

There certainly is room for another adaptation of the Pinocchio story — even as we await a stop-motion version from Guillermo del Toro later this year and just received one starring, um, Pauly Shore in 2021. Collodi’s novel is a more mischievous and dark take than Disney’s adaptation, and the story is ripe for exploration. Living in a world of AI and invisible helpers on our phones makes its ideas of humanity and reality more relevant, and the original animated film’s episodic structure provides avenues for a curious filmmaker to dig deeper into its themes of family,

Tom Hanks: We Attempted ‘Forrest Gump 2’ Idea, but Sequel Talks Died in 40 Minutes

Tom Hanks: We Attempted ‘Forrest Gump 2’ Idea, but Sequel Talks Died in 40 Minutes
Tom Hanks revealed on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast (via The Independent) that a sequel to “Forrest Gump” was a serious possibility for only 40 minutes. The Oscar-winning drama was based on the 1986 novel, which led to the 1995 book sequel “Gump and Co.” The film adaptation of the first book was a box office powerhouse, earning 678 million worldwide and becoming the top-grossing film in the U.S. in 1994. Hanks won the Oscar for best actor, while the film took home the prize for best picture and four more Academy Awards.

“I will say that, with a long time in between, we did take a stab at talking about another ‘Forrest Gump’ that lasted all of 40 minutes,” Hanks said. “And then we never…we said, ‘Guys, come on.’”

Despite the film’s popularity and Oscar success, a sequel just never took concrete shape for Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis. Hanks’ career has not been jam-packed with sequels,

The 15 Best Tom Hanks Movies, from ‘Cast Away’ to ‘Toy Story’ to ‘Big’

The 15 Best Tom Hanks Movies, from ‘Cast Away’ to ‘Toy Story’ to ‘Big’
Take a gander at the last 40 years of cinema, and you’ll find at least one universal truth: The people love Tom Hanks.

The 66-year-old actor is known around Hollywood and the world as an affable everyman, with as much capacity for heady drama as he has a knack for quippy comedy. Hanks’ most famous roles range from the light and whimsical to the darkly complex. He’s also responsible for delivering lines in some of cinema’s most quotable movies, including “A League of Their Own” (“There’s no crying in baseball!”) and “Apollo 13”.

Hanks cut his teeth as a stage actor, performing Shakespeare and other plays in his hometown of Lakewood, California for much of the late ’70s. At 24-years-old, Hanks made his first movie appearance as a flirty jogger in the slasher “He Knows You’re Alone” before starring opposite Daryl Hannah in Ron Howard’s romantic

‘Pinocchio’ Trailer: Tom Hanks and Cynthia Erivo Warn Against Wishing Upon a Star for Fame

‘Pinocchio’ Trailer: Tom Hanks and Cynthia Erivo Warn Against Wishing Upon a Star for Fame
“Why do you want to be real when you can be famous?”

Such is the haunting question at the center of Disney+’s “Pinocchio,” premiering September 8. Co-written and directed by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis, the live-action/animated hybrid retelling of the beloved classic tale stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the titular wooden doll who dreams of becoming a real boy.

Yet as “Honest” John (Keegan-Michael Key) lures Pinocchio, a talking puppet, into performing as the “eighth wonder of the world,” it’s up to Geppetto, the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), and Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) to guide the boy built with “no conscience.”

Lorraine Bracco, Luke Evans, Kyanne Lamaya, Jaquita Ta’Le, Giuseppe Battiston, and Lewin Lloyd also star.

Based on the 1883 Italian book by Carlo Collodi and the 1940 Disney movie, the new “Pinocchio” has been in development since 2015. While a slew of writers and

Keep Breathing Reminds Us of the Difference Between Life and Living

Keep Breathing Reminds Us of the Difference Between Life and Living
There's no doubt that consumers of entertainment have a thing about plane crashes.

The idea that one minute, you're on a journey of a lifetime to the next, scrambling to survive, makes for excellent drama and character introspection.

Keep Breathing hopes to combine a survival drama with the introspection that comes when your life almost passes you by in the blink of an eye.

In the vein of Tom Hanks' Castaway comes Keep Breathing, the story of Liv (Melissa Barrera), a woman who pursues her career at the expense of everything else in her life.

Liv's fateful day arrives as she's leading one of the most important projects of her life.

She rallies her team with a determined bark. Nobody will stop until they've got what they need.

She puts her words into action when her infirmed father falls ill and is hospitalized. Although she's urged to take the time to visit him,

The 15 Best Survival Movies, from ‘Cast Away’ to ‘The Revenant’

The 15 Best Survival Movies, from ‘Cast Away’ to ‘The Revenant’
From “Gravity ” and “Wild” to “The Way Back” and “Jaws,” the most compelling survival movies fearlessly examine characters’ will to live, imbuing their perilous struggles with the intensely personal motivations and desires that make every person unique. These stories allow audiences to consider what specific obstacles along one person’s quest for survival and happiness say about humanity writ large. What’s more, they challenge viewers to look inward and consider what truly matters when the chips are down.

The best survival films immerse viewers in life-or-death scenarios, balancing realism and believability with slow-burn suspense. Even in lighter survival fare, such as “Swiss Family Robinson,” filmmakers have to keep up the pace and pressure to deliver the subgenre’s characteristic urgency. Sure, “Cast Away,” “The Revenant,” and epic sagas like them are sweeping in scope with the lengthy running times to match. But survival stories work best when every frame

Taylor Kitsch Says He Would Never Appear in a ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reunion or Reboot

Taylor Kitsch Says He Would Never Appear in a ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reunion or Reboot
Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Taylor Kitsch thinks a reboot or revival of “Friday Night Lights” could happen. “You may see it, but I will not be a part of it,” the actor, who played Tim Riggins on the beloved NBC series, tells me. “I’m done. I’m good. I want to keep growing as an actor. Going back to Rigs — let him live in everyone else’s memories. Whatever that is, whatever he means to them, let him lay there.” However, let me be clear — Kitsch has no bad feelings about “Fnl”: “It was such a huge springboard for me, but I’m such a different actor now. It allowed me to explore the process, be fucking green and embrace it.”

Kitsch can currently be seen on Amazon Prime’s “The Terminal List” opposite Chris Pratt.

He then teamed up with director Ron Howard for the 1983 blockbuster “Splash,” which made him with one of the most bankable and beloved actors in the 1980s and beyond.
